New trans.
SO, one day i was driving home from a night out with friends and whne i was about to pull down my round where my subdivision is, my transmission slips and starts to sputter and wont go any where even with the throttle floored. It has been doing this for about 3-4 months before and never thought of anything of it. I would just shut down the car and let it cool off.
So i finally took it to the shop and had them check it out. Two days later, i get a call and the shop says im going to have to get it replaced/rebuilt. 4 days after the call they say it might take up to a week to fix. So after a week, i head back to the trans shop to see the damages. He shows me what actually happened, its harder to explain but, my main drive axle was missing half of the teeth and smooth... when it should be jagged. Also he showed me the tourqe converter.. it should have been a nice blue color, but it was a brown color from the burnt oil and fluids inside.
Pics of the main drive axle comming soon!

That would be the input shaft that was sheered that then trashed the Torque converter.... This is a known problem with the 97-02 65-E Transmissions...
For everyone else... The 60-E'* also wear the input shaft... They usually don't fail, But the wear is more than visible to the naked eye...
I'd say thats what you are going to show us a picture of..

I bet the new trans feels sweet (I miss my car :( )
Did the trans shop replace anything else? And what damage to your wallet did it do if I may ask?

I've never snapped an input shaft..yet , however I feel your pain when it comes to the bill, I've had to do it on two cars now, one year apart from eachother.
The end result is nice, however, Keep a close eye on it, it seems only 50% of automatic rebuilds, no matter how experienced the technician is, has some sort of issue.

Matt you are correct... And that is the truth... It takes someone really good with attention to detail to be able to rebuild a FWD GM Trans.... Its really not as bad as it seems, But it has to be done right...
And I want to say it again, from what we have seen, the 60-E'* also wear this shaft, granted it doesn't get worn as bad or as fast, but it does wear, so this in a 60-E can also fail in time...
