Default John!!! Dan!!!! Heeellllpppp!!!!!

Don't get all !!! on me for posting this here. I need an engine... preferably cheap and in the southern ok area... for my.... *sigh* Grand Prix ...

What happened (cuz I know your gonna be curious) is that a week ago on the way home, I exited the highway, came to a stop at the intersection off the highway, and by lucks chance, thought dang that Cummins engine is knocking hard, but as the diesel pulled away I realized to my horror... IT WAS ME!!!!

apparently despite my engine only having 83,000 miles (assuming previous owner was a failure at upkeep) the motor spun connecting rod bearing #1 and warped the connecting rod... thus the crazy knocking. 2 is on its way out, 3&4 are loose... 5&6... flawless but ill need a complete rebuild.

All of this with 5 more car payments left, and me just getting a new apartment, killing what WAS a savings account for the new furniture and move in. Worst part is my boss wont let me charge the $4000 i need to get a reman engine thru the dealership because its not "financially worth it" so im left to drive used cars and leave it on the rack til i can get the money to do it.

YAY long story for a simple question... Does anyone here have a L67 for a 99-03 bonnie thats in good shape that they would sell me?????

TL!!!!!! Where in hell have you been? With all thats happening with that engine @ 83k, I'd make it a boat anchor and not be sentimental about a possible rebuild. Failing @ 83k must have took a little more than no upkeep. Did you check with Ed Morad? All I can think of and here to hoping someone else has something for ya. Would be nice if you stopped in once and awhile. What. Has the GF got you all tied and branded?

Yes yes I do need to come back and pop in every now and then, I resurrected the bonnie to move to the new apartment complex, she was so dirty... still is lol but shes running well

and sadly, I am branded, gf keeps me tied up except from 9-5 for working purposes to fill her purse with money, and keeps talking about this ring of power, calls it "engaging" i dunno what the hell she means but it scares the sheet out of me

Are we talking about your car or GF here??? I dunno. I'd trust Ed for saying how an engine is before I'd trust some yahoo on ebay.

First, call salvage yards. I just lost my engine as well. I called around and can get a complete L67 for $875 to a bit over a grand. That'* a simple drop in, a afternoons work and a few tools.

Or, if you want save some cash and do a rebuild. All you need is a good short block. You can find those for a few hundred. Then about another $200 in gaskets and you swap all your parts over, your done.

My block is fine, but i need a new crank, new bearings in all, and 2-4 new connecting rods... assuming nothing has happened to the pistons, or heads.

The tech just dropped the oil pan and we were able to move 4 of the rods, 1&2 were bad, 3&4 just slightly loose, but i want to mod this engine so i want it built back right im just so tight on money i don't know if i can finance it all

If you touch the bolts on the main bearings or endcaps of the piston rods and you don't have the engine line or align bore checked you are setting yourself up for a 200-500 mile motor. Our 3800'* are beyond picky about being rebuilt. Which sucks. There are a lot of good motors available though and that makes me smile.
