Cool GXP vs. SSEI

My neighbor has a 2003 SSEI, that car is bad fast. I have a 04 GXP, my car is bad fast. Now, both cars are dead stock, before I challenge him, what is the common answer on who would win? Which car is badder? I had considered getting one, but I never drove one. I wonder if his car pulls as hard as the GXP. BTW, loser buys lunch at "Hooters". (a win/win senario).

Please do not post non-mechanical threads in the Northstar section. It is for mechanical issues relating to the Northstar engine only. Please use General Chat for other questions/discussions.

We have had this discussion many times in the past here. And quite a few threads have been locked up. Because of alot of new forum members, I will give you the majority view (and that is mine as well). The SSEi has better low end torque and a smaller more efficient tranny. From a dead stop, in the quartermile, with two experienced drivers with good torque management/torque steering skills,..... the SSEi is going to win. This has been proven out to me seeing alot of track times posted. The SSEi stock is a half to a second faster. I figure the contrast in times is driver skills.

So how can ya get a free lunch. Outdrive him in the launch./ Turn off your traction control and pull one wheel speed sensor and dont tell him about it (so he doesnt do the same)./ Run your tires soft.( I like 24 Lbs)/ Jack your rear end up in the air and get more weight on the front. (Pull the bottom link of the load leveler rod off and zip tie the switch at the other end of the rod all the way up with a zip tie)/ Get him to race over a quartermile (once the GXP develops the RPM to get to the peak of it'* torque curve it'* going to take lost time back quick) FYI... The Forum does not endorse street racing nor allow posts about them. I assume you aren't doing this on a public roadway.

Like John mentions, it'* usually considered the SSEi will win. However if it'* a run from point A to point B, it should all be in who gets moving first. I have seen a half of a second difference in cars but the slower car made it to the line first due to launch.

Out drive and you should have a good lunch.

Red face

Sorry about the initial post, I'm such a noob! I did'nt want to tie up a thread. Thanks for your responses, though. I guess I should search this site more in depth for the answers I seek.

BTW, I spanked him by 1 1/2 lengths, from a roll. Dead stop, it was almost dead even, could'nt call it. (It was at a local dragway for test and tune, no timers, just for fun, anyway my street racing days are looooong gone). He bought the first pitcher of beer, I bought the second, and called it a night. Also, I have Goodyear Eagle GT'*, he has Yokohamas, his car seemed to bite better, while mine spun more (with the traction control off). Is there better rubber out there? At the rate I'm going, I'll need new skins by October!

LOL, Did you run them soft? I think launching a FWD has more to do with learned experience than tires, join the club of haven't got it down pat yet I do like the grip of my g-forces better than the OEM RSa'*. They are definately alot softer tire, I wore a front set out in 14K miles vs. 20k for the RSa'*. But for $83 bucks a pop from Tire Rack, I bought a second set a few weeks back. Helluva difference compared to the $240 each RSa'*.

Yeah, I ran them soft, took 10 pounds out. Will leaving the TC on help? Will I damage the TC if run the tires soft? Also, I had the A/C on the whole time, (oops). I figure we were running in the 14'*. I am going to go back when we can "race" and get time slips.
