Default "Bonneville" The impenetrable tank

So I was out working on my car on Saturday and I was removing the entire centre console. I stuck my keys in the ignition and removed the shifter. I was about half way through the removal, when my bro dropped by to pick me up, (we were going over to his place to have dinner with his g/f) I locked up the car, and as soon as i slammed the door.... DOPE! keys are still in the ignition. Unfortunately my spare keys are back in ONtario, so theres no hope in unlocking the car. Fortunately my friend had a CAA membership which performs free door unlockings. So I call up CAA, and 30min later a guy in a towtruck shows up. He pulls out a Miracle Stick, (i think thats what its called, piece of metal for unlocking car doors) and jams it down the car door frame. He fishes around for 5 or 6 mins, then starts letting out some profanities. At this point hes screwed. Hes tryed soo hard to work this stick on to the lock rod, that he managed to get it stuck on the automatic window rods. I asked him how much experience he had with B & E'* on cars and he replied " over15 years" He ended up pulling out every tool he had to try and get this door unlocked, but no deal. He had been trying for about 50mins when finally he threw in the towel. At this point the door was still locked and his miracle stick was wedged inbetween the window and the door frame. He calls up his buddy and 15 mins later a second towtruck shows up. Now two of them are working away at my car, and still to no avail. eventually one of them gets the idea to pull out a rubber wedge and wedge it between the door and the frame. THey managed to pry the door open about 1/4 inch and stick a long rod in, which they hook on to the door lock and unlock the door. All tolled it took 1hr and 10mins and two experienced B&E CAA guys to finnaly break into my car, not to mention one of the guys tools was still stuck in my car. THeend result,

CAA door unlocking : Free

the realization that the Bonneville is a freakin tank : priceless

I ended up having to take the door panel off the next day, and looking at the positioning of the rod, he was nowhere near the lock rod. I managed to unwedge buddies lockpicking rod, and gave it back to him, I was thinking I could sell it and get a pretty good price for it, but then though that selling it would really just be putting it to bad use, so I decided to return it to a greatfull CAA driver, who in return gives me good discounts on tows whenever i need them!
AHhhhh i love my car

sometimes its the only way.

It took me 5 minutes the first time on Jseabert'* SSE. I can now get into an 87-99 Bonneville in under 30 seconds. Every time.

Although I have never had to, after watching a well practiced tow truck driver break into a truck, I think I could do almost any car in under 5 minutes. It really isn't that hard.

I know that they have Lockout kits for Tow Truck Drivers. My brother used to drive tow truck and has one. They gave different ones for different makes.

Guy was probably using the wrong one.
