I looked at that Guns, hers is the $239 reman from Valeo listed, and "not in stock". And we know the Dealer is only going to carry New. Well, water and money under the bridge, I'm 660 miles away and hadn't anyone near to help her out. :( Dealers have escalated pricing to the point it's ridiculous to have hem service your car and they just soon pay you trade-in and have you drive away with new.

yep, its really stupid
here in town the labour rate is 195 bucks an hour, i honestly cant afford getting a car fixed here |
thats why i dont take my vehicles to the dealer for service, if i cant learn to do it my self there are alot of very good local shops that can be found that can fix 95% of the problems on the car. and charge 50% or less than the dealer

I have read this thread and I think alot of the talk about the Negatives behind flushing transmissions and then I hear siphoning...wow!!!
Well I do trans flushes everyday..there are alot of shady shops out there that use "synthetic" trans fluids that are equally useful for "all" fluid types (ATF +4, DEX 6, Hyundai, Mercron V, and etc.) yet they don't use the genuine article. Well to hopefully shed some light on the subject, the shop I work at uses the BG trans flush machine, it is the best trans flush machine out there on the market, I have flushed numerous vehicles that use Dex 6 and never had them come back with trans. issues. actually it has only helped. I blame most peoples issues with trans. flushes due to shops using crappy fluid or wrong fluids and maybe crappy trans flush machines |
oh Michael no one is ever gonna forgive you for what you said lol
Mike, thanks for the input. I'm still thinking about it. I dont think my car NEEDS it, but i just wanted some opinions |
I am going to do a tech writeup with lots of pictures on the siphoning method. It can often be the easiest, cleanest and least risk method..... and done with minimum tools. Going take my picture doing a tranny fluid change with one hand while eating a bacon double cheeseburger with the other.
Siphoning is how the supercharger fluid is changed. It is how I have changed the power steering fluid. All painless, clean and super easy. A qty of clear plastic hose, a funnel and a pig collection pan. Doesn't get any easier than that. In this thread there is discussion of the two stages of Bonny GXP flush requirements. Heck, do a three times Dexron VI siphoning for under $50. Easy as eating pancakes..... The pictorial soon will follow..... |
i think its a good idea, you still have to drop the pan and change the filter but it would be nice not to have to fight a bunch of fluid when you do

I have researched this a great deal, and the most logical aspect of a poor flush is using a pump that has greater pressure than the transmissions own pump. There are at least two ways to flush, one using the cars own pump, and a machine that uses it's own pump, which can be a great deal stronger than what the tranny is used to. I am not explaining this very well, but it is wise not to just let a lube joint, or mechanic, use their machine on it, unless you are aware of how their machine works. This would explain why some people have such poor results when a flush is done. Not all flushes are created equal

u can do it way cheaper urself order ur parts from rockauto and fuild from zzp, i got 130,000 on my sle and flushed, new gasket, new filter, and shift kit,and fuild,i put some high mileage Lucas miracle cure in it and have had no problems actually shifts better, the reason people say it can hurt the trans cause u flush all the old metal out of the trans that is keeping it from slipping at high mileage but u dont got that many miles on urs i highly suggest changing it
