LN3 And Gearing
Lately i've noticed some things about gearing with the LN3. I think that the 2.84 LN3 will out accelerate a 3.33 geared LN3. I've compared videos and heard stories and this seems to be the case. I think that since all the power is down low with these engines, the 3.33 gearing keeps the revs too high in second gear. Seems as though the 3.33 geared LN3 dies out when 2nd hits, whereas the 2.84 LN3 keeps pulling. Have you guys noticed this? You think 3.33 is way overkill for an LN3?

3.33 is too short for the LN3, IMO - but I haven't driven anything else to compare to. It makes for some peppy revvy stuff for daily driving - aka, when you don't exceed 3000rpm.
Problem, is, I find myself hitting the 3k rpm plateau far too often, especially when the tranny likes to stretch out first gear. Sucks the big one for fuel economy. That said, I still have a healthy amount of pull in 2nd gear. I'd like to experience a 2.97 FDR, wonder what that'* like.

Yup, i'm thinking the same thing.
I saw a video around here with the 3.33 and it was slow compaired to vids of 2.84 LN3. But I think the 2.97 would be optimum.

I'd show you the vid for the top of second for the 2.84... But um yeah not a good idea here..
Mine is still slow tho...LMAO... 2nd with the 2.84 tops out at 80-82mph as opposed to the 3.33... 3.06 would have been more than enough for any LN3 and even then it would have been overkill... I can say I get great highway milage with the 2.84 ratio tho...
