Grand Prix 3.1 question
Earlier today i went out with my mom and test drove a 1995 Grand Prix SE with the 3100 3.1 litre v6. When i gave it some gas it barely did anything. I had to darn near put the pedal all the way to the floor for somewhat of a reaction. It was low on gas so maybe that was it? My mom's mini-van had more pick-up than this thing. I was wondering if this is what all Grand Prix's with the 3100 v6 are like or if it was just because the one i test drove was low on gas or in need of some type of tune- up. I know that this is a BONNEVILLE forum but bonnevilles and grand prix's are both pontiacs so i was just wondering. Thanks.

maybe a tune up, bad gas, many symptoms it could have been. how did it sound> Did you see any check gauge lights?
|
Well, i dont know though. Im not quite sure what grand prixs should sound like, it didnt make any knocks or pings and didnt sound like it needed a tune-up (dont quote me on this...im not a grand prix mechanic) and i didnt notice any check engine lights coming on. Too bad they didnt put 3800s in grand prixs till '97..... bastards

My GP will spinn um and go...goes just fine!
Sounds like it has some issues? |
the 3100 powered cars I have ridden in respond like that too. Lumina's and such..
|
That's a 3.1, not a 3100. Last one I drove seemed like that too. Nothing till you floored it, Then it wasn't what i was expecting either.
|
nope, all '94+ Grand Prix's with a 3.1L V6 are 3100 SFI, not the 3.1L MPFI.

I thought the 3.1's just had the multi port fuel injection cover and the 3.1 3100's had the 3100 SFI thing on it. all in all, they are 3.1's

So im still not quite sure.... if i give it some gas should it get moving a little faster? I mean i had to put the pedal down to the floor and even then not much. My mom's mini-van would have kicked this grand prix's butt in a drag..... i was REALLY dissappointed.
