Default anyone ever successfuly used rearview mirror adhesive?

ok so one hot summer day my rearview fell off, i reapplied the button following the directions exactly, what with the scraping and thorough cleaning and such, it fell off in a few days, i did it again with a different brand, lasted about 2 months and it just fell today, has anyone ever successfully made one stay permanently and if so could you post as much details a spossible? brands, temperature, procedure you used, what you used to clean the old adhesive away, etc cause the instructions on the package are useless, either that or they just plain dont work

Sorry I can't be more specific, but I did have a successful mount. I used an alcohol wipe to clean the window. Then I just follwed the directions on the packaging. I am not sure of the brand though. I got it at WalMart, and I am pretty sure they only had 1 kind. Can't remember for sure what time of year it was, probably not too hot out. I think it was in the spring, maybe in the 60'*. I did have some problems, but those were my fault.
First, I mounted the metal piece upside down I could nnt get it off for anything.
So I just glued another one over that one. My other mistake I noticed once I had the mirror on was that I put it a little off to one side, so that was kind of weird, but it worked. It never did fall off though.

I recently had to do mine. I got the glue from Advance, it was the permatex extreme mirror adhesive. It'* been about a month and all is well so far.

Make sure the inside of the windshield is clean and follow the directions to the T.

I also had mine fall off and the first two time I tried to repair, it fell down in weeks. Then I read the package more carefully.. Clean the glass thoroughly (on the inside) where the mirror will go. Make sure the mirror button is cleaned well of old adhesive.
Apply the adhesive to the mirror button AND the windshield......I didnt do that the first two times.... It has stuck for at least a year now. Any good rearview mirror adhesive should do it.

Nerv, I did one on my truck on a very hot day and it fell off as well. Scraped the crust off and did on a cooler day and it was fine. I think the super glue drys out in the heat before the chemical cure can happen.

Mine fell off on my Aurora and I went to a glass shop. They put it on with the proper glue and only charged me 10 bucks. Guy there said the glue you buy over the counter is a crap shoot; sometimes works, sometimes don't.

Yeah....we recomend taht at advance..but i always tell customers to hit it with alcohol on a cotton ball rather than the pad it comes with. Never had one fall off...i usually put them on for them..LMAO

The biggest part is just making sure the window is very clean beforehand. If the window is clean and you follow the directions it should work great. When it says only use a dab of glue, they aren't kidding either. All you need is a little drop. A lot of glue is not gonna help it stick better.
