Default My car came home on a trailer today :-(

I was returning from a trip to dayton for work, and i pushed the gas to pass someone, she downshifted normally then all of a sudden my engine was bouncing off of the rev limiter and i lost all power to the wheels.

FUDGENIUTS i thought... i pulled her off to the side only to realize that she would still go just ONLY in first second and third. ****. It would be hard to finish my journey in third because my OBD was telling me that my transmission temp was rising approx 20 degrees a minute went from 170 to 190 then from 190 to 210 then i pulled over and shut her off before more serious damage was done. I let her cool down and limped her to the next exit (which entailed driving 2 miles down the shoulder cause anything over 35mph was getting the trans too hot too fast) I parked her in a Frisch'* parking lot and stood loyaly by her side untill my rocking awesome best friend and his dad showed up with a trailer, and my dad brought the truck (my friends van couldn't lug the bonnie) I made some good friends at the restaurant whilst i waited 5 hours for this thing to come to a close (4 of which i was just waiting by myself for someone to show up)

Some carefull fidgeting got her on a trailer for the rest of the 60 mile journey. She will be assesed tomorrow by the same place that "fixed the transmission leak" just a few days prior. Hopefully they will fix it right this time and then i need to find someone i can fuggan TRUST to take car of my precious car!

sounds like maybe you ran so low on fluid the transmission started to burn up? :?

a 92 SSE i drove did that too. Went to pass, then all of a sudden it was hitting the limiter.

It wasn't my car

I was on the worst freeway in the metro

It was friday rush hour.

Atleast i was stuck behind a malibu SS and traffic didn't go above 35 (i couldn't go faster then 35). Once i got to my exit, i opened the hood, let her cool off, got back to the owners place, and left in the camry.

Sorry to hear. At least I know now what to expect soon. I'm praying that silly light doesn't mean my tranny is about to drop.

You have no IDEA how glad i am that i had that.

And as far as the fluid, yes it proly was low... the place that i took it too the last time (causwe it wouldnt shift into overdrive) said that i was 3 qts low and that there was a leak and they fixed it. They ALSO said that my tranny somewhere along the line had gotten EXTREMELY hot. So it might have just bit the dust this last time. Or it is that they really suck and did something wrong and so somehow i lost more than 3 qts in just two days without leaving a spot in the driveway :?

i can relate. my tranny went at 82,000 miles and just had it rebuilt. i was getting a code about the torque converter clutch circuit stuck on and then all of a sudden i had no gears in the middle of a construction zone and almost caused a massive wreck. LOL, they can never go out at a convienient time can they? My 90 bonne went out in the center divider of the highway by my house but it made it to 180,000 before it went out. just dont understand the whole have it fine one minute and its gone the next!
