Today I called or drove to nearly a dozen junkyards looking for items on my punch list. Things weren't going very well untill I called an out-of-town yard. They had a 93 SSEi that had my name written all over it. When I got there, the car was black and the interior was gray. Unfortunately, I have a green/tan combo so the dashboard, console and visors I couldn't get. But I was able to grab the instrument cluster, blower motor control module and one of the headlight squirters for $75.

I was crossing my fingers that the cluster worked correctly as the keys were not available to test it prior to removal. I was all excited when I pulled into the driveway. During the installation, I noticed that the cluster was a reman unit. This can be looked at being a blessing or another nightmare. After plugging it in and firing the car up, I was a little dissapointed. The temp and oil pressure gauges were not operating properly. Both of the gauges performed their start-up dance and then the oil pressure gague was pegged even without the motor running. The temp gauge looked as if it was a small boat on a rough sea. It fluctuated up and down slowly.

Oh well, it'* an improvement over the last one. I think tomorrow, I'll try cleaning the connectors with an electronics spray to see if that helps

What were the seats like in that car? Were there seats in that car? Think the PCM/Memcal is still there?

The driver'* seat was a little rough. Worn and a little ripped at the bolster.

I think it was a virgin before I got at it so I'd say that everything is there except what I removed.

Yea, if you can recover seats you'd be in good shape. Passenger'* seat was good. Just the normal creases in the bottom part.

Are you planning a trip to lovely New England or were you thinking of shipping these monster seats to MN? How much do these puppies way anyway? I don't think I have a scale in the house.

The next time I'll be able to go there during their operating hours is in two weeks unless I get fired. I wish I would have known this ahead of time. I would have bough the whole car and started randman salvage.

Always nice to find a suitable doner. Don't find too many 00+ bodies in the yards yet. Most of the insurane companies snap up their parts pretty quickely. (Like Rims)

Well you could just take the leather cover off and send that. They come off on their own. Don't need the whole seat assembly.

Might be interested in the SSEi PCM/EPROM too... Nice find btw.
