Can anyone ID GM part number 5959378?
Title speaks for itself. It'* a clear, front, right-hand turn-signal lens that'* allegedly for a '67 Bonneville/Catalina/etc. It'* got a molding code of "GUIDE25 SAE DP 67" across the top on the outside, so it _looks_ like it should be '67, but the only on-line reference I've been able to dig up anywhere that references that number is a guy on eBay who says it'* a '69. (Auction #370094351305)
I found one website that lists this part and says _what_ it is... but doesn't say what %$^& year it'* for! (GMPartsDirect.com had no listing for it at all.) Ordinarily I'd say Fine, it'* for the whole range of 1967-1969 model years, but the '67 Bonnie is _so_ different from the '68 and '69 that I find that a little unlikely. Can anyone please pin this down for me? Part number 5959378 is for what car(*)? TIA...

The molding code has the year in it. It'* for a 1967. Most taillights have a molding code in them. As a police officer we used them to immediately determine the year of a vehicle while conducting accident investigations.

Agreed; thanks. I was reasonably sure that its first year of production was '67 due to the molding code, but wasn't sure how far forward they carried that part. (For example, the back end of our beloved old '69 Pontiac Custom * wagon was unchanged from the '68 version, and thus its taillights had 1968 molding codes in them.) The '69 year that the other seller was claiming for this part looked like a bit of a stretch, so I wanted confirmation from somewhere that it would be good through 1969, not just '67 alone.
I _think_ the front end valance for '69, the metal lower chin piece that the turn signals mount in, was the same part for both Custom * (our wagon) and Bonneville (Custom * was basically a budget Tempest with the same sheet metal), and I thought the signal housings on our old '69 were a little wider. This '67 piece doesn't look quite the same as what I remember: it'* got a smaller, rectangular housing seal behind a wider lens, instead of a seal that'* as wide as the lens itself.
Is it possible to do a lookup by Year and Model to see what part number was used for the '69 Bonneville/Tempest RH front lens? TIA...

Hey, I just thought of something else... In 1968, the Bonneville and others had wraparound turn-signal lenses to double as side marker lights, which were newly mandated by the gummint that year. They used that '68 design for one year only. In 1969 they went back to forward-facing lenses and separate side markers (li'l teeny-tiny ones, in fact: Tempest/Custom * got little bulls-eye markers; the Bonnies got them concealed in the ends of the body molding bump strip; very slick...)
So anyhow, I doubt they'd drag out the old 1967 tooling and reuse those turn signals again; I'm thinking they probably made up a new part for '69 that looks similar.

WooHoo! Am gradually homing in on the truth here. Some heavy-duty Googling turned up a misclassified and misplaced Excel spreadsheet of GM part numbers, and 5959378 turned up as -- TaDaa! -- a 1967 Pontiac lens. Only 1967.
Okay, one last detail left: The description says only "1967 52-56-62-66," and I'm going to guess that 52-56-62-66 are model and/or body style code numbers; e.g. 52 and 56 are Tempest variants and 62 and 66 are Bonnevilles, or something like that. Has anyone got a '67 of either (or a shop manual) and could say whether those are body plate codes?
