I have a 1995 Bonneville SE (I Think). It has leather and all sorts of goodies. I am wondering what it would take to put it to dual exhaust. I am banking on the under carriage being the same across the platform. Any ideas, instructions or useful help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would say if you don't live anywhere where CARB is a factor..you can cut the catalytic converter off and in place of it put a 1 into 2 pipe(like a Y pipe) and then put pipe back into whatever mufflers you like at the end. I'd say some flowmaster deltas on the back with some really nice tips. really loud!

Dual exhaust might boost your HP somewhat but you'll lose your torque. Something to do with the backpressure. The 3800 is built with loads of torque in mind, a single inlet dual outlet would be better bang for your buck if you are looking for performance.

two mufflers is going to give more backpressure than one with a dual outlet. and if you want backpressure and a pretty quiet car get a tip with a resonator or fiberglass packed

I have actually looked at doing a "true" dual exhaust for the L36 gang. If we go to a dual inlet cat with a Y prior to the cat (connected right at downpipe), coming out in 2" or even 2.25" pipe run side by side all the way over the back axle. I found some small mufflers that would fit nicely under the car right at the outlet. I'd still go with dual outlets. The back pressure issue is gone because you've only increased the size of your pipe by 1" or 1.25". The only problem with that is I'll have to move the compressor to the trunk from under the fender. Since the regulator is already in the trunk, it'* only a problem of rerouting the electrical connection. So, I see no real problem.

Um, no. Two mufflers will create less backpressure than one, dual outlets or not. You see, if you only have one muffler, ALL of the exhaust must pass through it. With two mufflers, only half of the exhaust goes through each one. Hence, less backpressure.
