fair market value for a 1995 ssei w/ 57k miles
 

i have used the standard guides such as nada, kkb, so on so forth. usually i query the local listings, auto trader, ebay and the like to see what people are actually asking/getting cars. i found few ssei's of the 1995 model year for sale. i understand they only made 4800 something of them so that me be the cause.

for my own curiosity i wanted to know what you guys felt the fair market value for a 1995 ssei with 57k miles. i assume there is no specific options to list as it is the ssei. the car is or will be in 100% perfect working order with no major flaws.

probably $4-$4.5k maximum.

about what i estimated. trying to stay below fair market value with all the new parts i am installing on the car.

although it is probably worth 4-4.5... I doubt you would get that if you were trying to sell it in the real world. For that same price, you can find some really nice 97-98 SSEi's also.

I would put it at $3500-4500 depending on the day, person, and desire. The other thing is personal value too. How much is enjoying the car worth to you when putting in the extra money beyond what fair market value would be.

well my father bought it for my mother in hopes of it being a 'good deal.' all that is in the thread in prior posts.

in the car total for $2364.99 to date with new fuel pump, sending unit, harmonic balancer, supercharger coupler, bearings, and nose seal.

i still need to buy charger output gasket, LIM gasket, injector o-rings, valve cover gaskets, thermostat & gasket, belts, hoses and pads, rotors, drum hardware. even if that brings the total close to $3000 i still have $500 to shell out on tires and consider the car a 'good deal.' home many used ones will have all those new parts for $3500 asking price.

the car is here so all that work has to get done someone in my family will end up driving it until it is no longer economically worth while to do so.

You will never get your money out of low mileage unless it's under 10k, and you get very lucky with the right buyer (lucky like they really want the low miles and are willing to pay, not lucky in the 'score' sense).

Book it out at 100k miles, and that's about what you'll get for the 50-some k you have on it. Most car buyers aren't willing to pay more for the miles being THAT low. From 100k to 200k, sure. But nothing under 100k is really going to be a practical factor in the real world.

not really concerned with resale to be honest. just don't want to end up with more $ and all my hours labor in it than what one could have been bought for. looks like i am on track for a good deal though. someone in my family will drive it till it has no more useful life in it for sure.

personally at my stage in life i cannot justify spending more than 10% of my gross salary on transportation [even though i love cars]. that 10% won't get me much. if my mom doesn't like the bonneville i'll give my father the $ he has in it and it should last me another 10 years.

hopefully by the time 10 years pass i can allocate more funds to maybe a nice used z06 corvette... :D

All right, I see what you're doing here. This is a really good plan, and I hope it works out for you. Including the purchase price and all the repairs/replacements/mods, my 94 SSEi has come out to be in the low 2Ks. How is your car coming along?

runs/drives perfect now. probably be a week or so before i get all the maintenance parts. unsure if i will have any time to work on it until 2008. holidays are busy and i am not using any PTO from work for several reasons.

if i do manage to get everything i need the thread will be updated again. :D
