It'* time for a new daily driver. My 150,000 mile 1995 Bonneville SSE is having too many problems. I need a reliable daily driver.

I LOVE the color of the whiite-gold tricolor on the bonneville. But I really like the idea of the remote start on the GP, as well as the fold down seats. I am NOT interested in an aftermarket remote starter on a new car. I know how much surgery it requires to put one in having done one myself. Unless the remote start capability could be added without cutting/splicing wires.

So who on this board can help sway me one way or the other? Is the stated gas mileage real? 17/24 on the bone, and 18/27 on the GP could be due to the displacement on demand. What about engine reliability of the Northstar4.7L versus the 5.3L? Is the Dod a reliable technology?

I have a very short time in both cars. Thought the GP was cheap, and the Bonne part old/part new inside. Oddle I felt the GP cluttered and busy, and not that on the bonne?

I have a dealer offering me 300 over invoice on the bonne, but shouldn't I be able to get a gresat deal on one?

I've had my GXPa coupla weeks and for the few shortcomings ( they will be some with the GP as it rolls) I am totally sastisfied with the car and I looked each over very carefully as far as gas ya gp probably wins but not by much. northstar has enuff torque to throw ya back in seat pretty good and roars thru the gears with its better gear ratios. Unless your gonna quarter mile it the engines arent really an issue. I dont know interior specs but sat in each and at 6'3 and 210 Lbs I found the GP cramped inside.My vote? I voted with my wallet and could afford either one and bought the GXP. At the discounts ya can get you wont find this kind of car for the buck again.PRICE MINE was 29k fully optioned Tax and tags included with sticker of almost 4o grand(it was the showroom floor model so at least it didnt sit in the elements for a year)and why optioned out
doesnt sound like he'* being fair to you invoices are real as far as the came from GM
but there eye candy and not what he'* paying, especially with GM trying to herd em out the door

Sounds like the GXP Grandprix is prolly a better fit. Each car is very well put together, but the GXP Grandprix has a nice interior and I own a 05 SLE... lol
Here is my view...

Bonneville GXP
The Good- The best possible performing and looking Bonneville ever, great on par handling, excellent brakes, supportive and nice suede seats, and can be found slighty used or new for cheap! It really reminds me of an executive express... Great Northstar LD8 V8 with Twin Cams and 32V with 275hp and 300lbft. of tap it is a powerful car and pretty quick 0-60 in 6.5-6.8 seconds depending on launch and driver... The Bonn also has noticably more trunk spaec and a bit more space inside but not much. The Bonn GXP does have a more advanced motor with the twin cams and 32v'*... Now fuel wise the GXP 18/24 isn't bad but people report they have gotten better **a lil*. They have neat options like hud and xm radio... Has a more refined BMW exhuast note compared to the OHV V8 Grandprix GXP... They sound good both do!

The Bad- Interior that looks to me like rubbermade. Back seat for a fullsize sedan **epa rated** is tight. To many buttons and things to adjust it took me a Bonneville and car nut 3 months before I knew how to use half the stuff. Doesn't handle as well as the GP GXP because of the same size tires in front and the back. The GP GXP has wider tires up front and wider front suspesion track actually C&D was pretty impressed with the GP GXP. Umm sticker pricing is about 4-6k to high! The interior styling was getting old... And its still FWD! The GP GXP has more torque down low making better launch and burnouts if that is important to you!

Grandprix GXP

Good- Quick, Stylish and a better but not great interior... **Better than the Bonn** The GP GXP has 5.3L DOD V8 with 303hp and moves real well. One of the fastest FWD cars ever. If you think about wider tires up front make more sence because they are the drive wheels think Corvette! Ever seen those meats out back? I have! The 303hp OHV V8 is a lil more old school and sounds rougher the Bonn sounds more like a refined BMW when revved where as the GP is just crude as h*ll. But thats okay with me. The GP GXP does have fold down seats and remote start. FYI GP GXP'* were made in 05 too. It sounds like a GP is better suited to you. 0-60 is 5.5-6.0 seconds depending on who you ask noticeable faster than the Bonn GXP, not that the Bonn is slow tho... More power and better fuel economy than teh Bonneville GXP...

Bad- Ummm cloth seats standard and alot of stuff the GXP Bonn has standard is optional. Not near as much trunk room and a smidge less room inside that is about all I can think off.

Judging by what you need I would go with a Grand Prix GXP... But umm the Bonneville GXP is missing the fold down seats and keyless start but has a more refined motor better paint choices and does have huge rebates... For me no question the Bonneville GXP but for you I think the GP would suite your needs better. Just my 5 cents... I will be getting an 06 GP GXP in a month or so as my new daily driver. I think the interior is nicer than the Bonnie. I am a Pontiac Fan, but i think the dash is a bit much. The Grand Prix is more contemporary and easier on the eyes.The seats are more supportive and comfortable than the bonnie and there is more room in back too. The side bolstering is great.Yes the trunk is smaller, but i have a Dodge Ram for hauling stuff. I do like the front and side looks of the bonnie GXP better. I am only 6' and have to have the seat all the way back in the bonnie and still my knees only clear the dash by 2 inches. On the passenger side its worse. There is no leg room and the dash sticks so far out and is so low i cant get me knees under it. I feel bad for anyone who has to sit in the back becasue there is no leg room, but at least the seat is comfy. The back seat in the GP is also tight, but i find i can fit back there better, and in front i dont need the seats all the way back to fit.

Don't get me wrong, i love the bonnie GXP, but i can understand why they wern't selling.

Glad you mentioned seat in GXP, cause I couldn't figure out the thing about the drivers seat, somethings wrong with it and I forgot to mention when at dealer today for a oil swap....................Sometimes it only goes so far back and I'm cramped(6'3") and sometimes it goes so far back I nudge it back up a little. Rags me to/ Dealers 40 miles away and I want that fixed, maybe it'* the seat position memory and I'm gonna play with that. And even when it'* running when I do get it all the way back, I stop like at post office and open door and it comes up to the exit setting (salesman set for me on lot maybe he didn't do right) and then wont go all the way again???

Guys umm the Bonneville'* interior isn't that great not even the GXP the carbon fiber stinks in my view... But uhh suede seats kick a$$! I don't buy a car for the interior the exterior is dead sexy! Honestly I am not a fan of the Bonnevilles interior but the exterior is so great, I am to get one!

SkiB, we need large photos when you get the GXP GP and then put that sweet Boneville GXP by it! I can't wait to see the pics! You lucky dawg to GXP'*! Even tho one is your moms!
