How hard are the 3800'* to remove/reinstall from the car?
my mechanic wants ****$2,800**** TO REBUILD MY ENGINE.
Two spun bearings..
what I'm thinking is just get a low mileage motor through ed morad. I saw 24, 25, 26k mile engines for sub $1K prices.. why would I rebuild something with 132K on it if I can get something with that many less miles for that much less?
how hard would it be to install the motor , i have no experience in this, all i've done is alternators, plugs, wires, brakes, otherwise i know nothing else..

if you have never pulled a motor before, i would recomend at bare minimum you have one(or more) helper that has. and you of course would need a hoist, but a decent socket set will take care of most everything else.

I remember you have awesome tools in your garage, but I didn't see an engine hoist. You would need one (or two), but don't go out just now and buy one if you don't yet know if you'll do this. Probably most important is an FSM. You'll need one for your car, and perhaps for the donor.
There have been a few posts here of teams of people doing engine swaps, but not much of the process is shown. Mostly you see beer pictures. You're under 21, so find someone old enough and have him/her drink beer while you work. It'* not easy to take out an engine by yourself. You should probably find a few forum friends in your area who have done this before and are willing to come over and help you do this. With a large team of people and you doing this for the first time, this is roughly a 10 hour (240 beers) job.
Overall, though, given the complexity of the work, the required tools, and the labor, the $2800 rebuild price isn't too bad considering the guy running the shop isn't doing the work for free. He might be in an expensive area, so his building'* rent and property (and other) taxes may be high. Ask around some more.

Way ahead of you. Part of the problem is that I'm afraid to do the work myself because I somehow always mess things up.

It'* really not that bad.
Leave the p/* pump and AC in the car.
I didn't, but you can take out the oil pressure sender if your worried about breaking it.
Hardest part IMO is messing with the torque converter bolts. I was able to do it by myself though..

If your not comfortable doing it yourself I would get some people that know what they are doing, or see if you can find a shop that will swap the engines for you. Could be cheaper then the $2800, not sure.

okay guys, this is retarded.
my mom and stepdad just want to have him rebuild it ($2,800) so he'* "ordering parts"
i told them why i'm against this:
that motor has been beaten on, not only by me
it'* only a patch on a ticking time bomb.. last time he rebuilt an engine for me it locked up a week later. epic fail.
i can get a motor to my door with 24k miles for $1500 and have someone install it for at least $500 cheaper than it'd cost to be rebuilt
most of it is labor. he'll probably use low quality parts on the rebuild to make a maximum profit.
-------they are paying out of their pocket so i guess i really have no say in it. i'm going to talk to my stepdad about it, my mom told me to talk to him.
i know a few people on here that i could get some beer for, and they'd probably help out w/ the swap if i was to go that route.
im going to talk to them over the next day or so.

Eric when and if you do this, be careful and make sure you have more thasn one set of hands... Having a couple of friends help is a great thing.. I'm on the right, Mike is on the left and I think Brad was behind my Camera...LMAO
And just remember chances are that you will break something... So take it slow and easy, and if anything happens just roll with it...
