Ok anyone game to write a letter to Bob Lutz? Or Pontiac or anyone at GM about the Bonneville? And say how it must be called a Bonneville no G8 will do!

I would love replys! Lets start a new era, (Mustang) if Ford Maniacs can do it so can we! My dad is game! So thats 2!

Dear Pontiac Motor Division,


As an avid car enthusiast and a GM car owner I have been disappointed watching Pontiac drop such staple names in the lineup like Grand Am and the one I am really upset with is the Bonneville. No nameplate other than the Corvette or Mustang is as recognizable as the Bonneville. Discounting this car with no set replacement poses a big risk, no heritage to back up the Pontiac name. Also you will offer no large sedan for those seeking a sporty large car from GM. I know one fellow ex-Bonneville owner who traded for an Avalon. I am a proud owner of a 2005 SLE which I got pre-owned with just 3,800 miles. I have seen early spy photos and rumors of the next Bonneville (if there is) but none of which have been confirmed by General Motors Co. Lee Iococca even said this “The three greatest icons the American auto industry has ever created are the Corvette, the Mustang and the Pontiac Bonneville.”

Well obviously times change judging by the fact Toyota has been moving a lot of those new styled Avalons, and I can’t help but think that GM could be cashing in on that cow with a new Bonneville. One letter is not a lot but every little bit counts. I have purchased nothing but GM vehicles all my life and intend to do that for the rest of it as long as you have good desirable products I am GM for life as one of my email addresses indicates. After owning a 1977 Bonneville and fondly remembering my dads 1971, 1969 Executive, 1967 Catalina and 1965 Catalina. I will say this; it’* a mistake to discontinue such a reliable recognizable nameplate. No 4 door sedan has touched the Bonneville and its long line of history and heritage it carried on its shoulders. I have seen 2000 plus Bonneville sales records no they may not be the most inspiring to keep a nameplate going that looks like its on its death bed. I do remember the Mustang and Ford, a car that should have been laid to rest was continued for avid car lovers just like me.

The Bonneville has a heritage people remember and they know that it is the ultimate interstate car, set the cruise and load up the Bonneville were going on a road trip. Many a time me and my large family piled in the Bonneville and went west an American road trip in the truest form. I guarantee if you have no replacement and no Bonneville name on it you will be making a big mistake and lose heritage which seems to play some roll of importance at GM since the GTO was brought back. I know along with many other Bonneville owners know it is a mistake to discontinue a car like the Bonneville. Design the next one right which brings old into new and make it cool to own a Bonneville again. I know that they would sell I have seen the new Buick LaCrosse’* interior do half that well on the next Bonneville you will sell them. There is a market I know because of the Avalon, bring out a few power plants and get it back for its 50th anniversary, you won’t regret this. I don’t care if its RWD or FWD but it needs to come back! Please take that G6 badge off the G6 and call it what it should have been called the all new Grand Am! (There was heritage to cash in on it as well.)

After seeing the success of the Chrysler 300 and 300C with the “Hemi” engine I have no doubt heritage sells, and is a highly profitable market for Pontiac to enter. A premium full-size reasonably priced Bonneville would complete the company’* missing link in the 2006 lineup. You may already have a replacement planned and may call it the Bonneville and if you do I and many other Pontiac car owners couldn’t be happier. I know that you folks at GM have the tools to make great and I mean world class cars, look at what you have done at Cadillac including the new DTS. The Bonneville is for people like me middle aged that remember nothing but the good old days when driving a 455 powered Bonneville was not only a family cruiser but a destined to become classic car.

I also know that the engines coming down the turnpike such as the new 3900 VVT would make a fabulous replacement for the good old 3800 iron block V6 which many even import enthusiasts admit is one of the best motors ever. Period no questions asked. And slide that ultra smooth 5300 D.O.D. in and get ready to watch 300C sales drop with a name and this much heritage it would be a shame for it to all go away. I urge you to consider keeping the Bonneville and fixing you new marketing problem of G and then a number and such. As a person who only wants to see high sales and recognizable cars in GM’* line-up I urge you to consider and read this letter. I appreciate your time and would like some sort of feedback. Pretty sure that you're not gonna get anywhere with this, and I'm also pretty sure that you're not the first person to try and or have the same idea. But hey, more power to you for the effort. You have a great letter started there, and if you wanna add anything from my sig....More power to you, use anything you want.

Ha! Good luck. I cant see any big corporation, especially GM, giving a rats a$$ about a consumer'* opinion.

I think it is too long, I am gonna cut it down to 3 paragraphs, and get rid of the family stuff. I was a very quick one I typed it and didn't proof it at all. So anyone gonan join me?

Leave the family stuff in but shorten it up a bit, it tells them that its a great family car with possibility that family members will buy that car later in life. :P

I dont know what to say in my letter other than angry things, because it isnt just the Bonneville, its GM as a whole and if they listened to their customers in the first place they would not be in a rut like they are right now. They dont care about their customers like they used to and changes such as the Bonneville being axed reflects that. Its more than that, its the Firebird, its the Camaro, its their new marketing campaign, its their lowering prices accross the board after they realized that people WILL buy their cars if they are reasonably priced. Granted they need to make a profit, and I hope they do, but you can only go so far until your bonds are declared junk!

So yea I have alot of things to say to the "higher up" that wont be too pretty. Will they give a damn? No. Because like the Hollywood execs and any other organization that fails to get in tune to the customer its not all about poor marketing, its what the customer wants. The rest is just word of mouth.

A name is a name.

What the car is, is what'* important to me. I personally don't choose cars based on nameplates, or makes.

Fact is the car didn't sell much recently, the 04 GP is almost as big, and aimed at a larger audience.
