General GM Chat When starting new posts, please specify YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, ENGINE type, and whatever modifications you have made. Chat about all things GM (and related cars). Off-topic stuff should be in the Lounge, and all Model specific mechanical problems should be posted in the proper forum.

I used to put a quart in my Silverado every time I changed the oil due to a ticking front lifter that liked to make noise on cold starts for about 10 seconds. Worked like a charm..... no more lifter noise.

I've since quit using it..... no real reason as to why I stopped. I may put some back in next oil change. Maybe since it'* winter and the ticking is worse, I feel the need to use it again.

YMMV

Why do you want to run it? Are you having problems?

no, I like to use it for protection purposes. I just wanted to see if anyone else was using it too.

Junk. Worse than a waste of money. Want protection? Just keep some decent oil in it.

There is only ONE additive I would (and do) run in a GM auto trans: Lubegard in the red bottle. This one has some value; the others are all snake oil, in my opinion.

"Mechanic in a can" can sometimes MASK the real problem and give you a temporary lifespan increase.

It can help with slipping shifts as a temporary measure until a rebuild. It'* a short-term bandaid at best.

bobistheoilguy has been around for years. He does real research and actual testing to support what he says. Much more worthy than most of the (unsupported) word-of-mouth drivel you usually get online.
