dont like the security lights in my car

like you know when you go out to ur car when its completely dark out, and pull on the door handle...what does it do??

LIGHTS UP THE WHOLE FREAKING INTERIOR

as to say, "here is my system, please steal it"

is there a way to disable this option? if they actually want to break in, so be it, they prolly have a flashlight, but the light turning on is only tempting them further

Illuminated Entry.... There's got to be a module to unplug... Ah. 8A-115-1 Interior Lamps Relay, Relay Center looks to be the best bet. But remember this is a 93FSM I'm looking at. It's in the bottom row, right side, under the dash. Position F.

Of course this is meant to allow you to see if there's something inside the car you don't want to play with. Really it's a very nice feature and anything people can see with the interiors on can be seen in plain daylight. I wouldn't disable this on my own car.

I like the lights.. especially when I play with the car, and unlocking the doors from the inside, and the alarm goes off. My interior lights flash with the headlights. It's really cool, but I don't think this was from the factory.

I think the 96+ models got rid of the feature? maybe I'm wrong. but I think they did. Maybe a module from the 96+ will fix this.

why would GM make a car, that doesn't have courtesy lights?

they wouldn't, nor would any other company. They just made it so lights don't light up when someone attempts to open the door with the door handle.

Ah.. I see what you mean. Like if someone unlocks the car.. via a slimjim [or equivilant] the lights come on? Holy crap I am glad my car doesn't do that [ I test the alarm daily.. and to piss of my neighbors].

no, as in someone pulls up on the door handle, regardless if the door opens or not.

opensourceguy 10-12-2004 09:28 AM

oh! I see. Mine used to do that, but that's broken amongst other things. Once I pull apart my door, i'd fix that, so if you open the door locked, the alarm goes off. Because I always lock my doors, and if I want to get in my car.. I will know to unlock it.

ok this didnt really go anywhere...

back on track, what kinda of module would i have to get or take out? i still want to have interior lights when the doors are open, but not when just the handles are pulled. my tint helps with being a deterent, but not during the night when the interior lights are on. had it happen to my lumina in a parking lot with me sleeping 50 ft away...just dont want it to happen again

any more ideas?
