I possible have an opportunity to get a set of 92 SSE and SSEI FSM'*. I have a 93 :?

I know that there were ALOT of difference between 92 and 93

any suggestions??

1993, i'd personally avoid it. The heads are completely different, and a lot of electronics are. That and you don't have an SSE/i. Maybe get it and pass it along to someone on the club doing extensive work? (Doesn't Kenn'* blue car fit this book?)

Don't you have FSM'*? The FSM'* cover all engines available in the vehicle.

You don't want to follow the wrong procedures, Which you may end up doing if you use that book. It'* a bad idea.

FYI, FSM'* cover all models for that year. SE/SLE package, SSE, and SSEi. But as stated, there were alot of differences between 92/93. I'm not sure how useful it would be. Generally, yes, but it'll bite you eventually.

yeah man, it will. '92 was kind of an experimental year almost, one with a lot of hickups, and some changes. I've said it time and time again, I couldn't live without my FSM. I got mine used for $50.

I found two, one that looks too cheap for its condition, and one that seems about right.

I have both sets of factory manuals - the 3-book set for the '92 SSE/SSEi and the 2-book set for the '93 (I think this set is the only set available for all '93 models). My cars are the '92 SSE */c and the '93 SSEi.

I don't remember seeing any references to the SLE model in the '93 manuals, but I've only had a need to look at several specific sections over the last 5 years that I've owned them. I have noticed, though, that the '92 manuals and the '93 manuals contain mostly identical information...I've also found that both sets of books contain errors, and in some cases, the errors are in both sets. My '93 set also included looseleaf service bulletiin sheets that someone had inserted in the correct locations within the books, so if you can find the service bulletin updates, that may come in handy too,

The errors I've noticed so far have been minor, and in some cases the errors have been in the form of omissions...for example, in the '92 manual'* diagnostic section for the O2 sensor, the flow chart never indicates under what conditions to replace the sensor! The diagnostic sections are very useful overall, though. I've performed several of them...and no, I don't own a Tech 1 scanner, although some of the diagnostics rely on the use of that scanner.

Lastly, my only real complaint about the factory manuals is that it'* hard to find what you're looking for. In my opinion, the index is poor. You won't find "IAC Valve", for example, because the index is too short. And when you need to find the physical location of an electrical connector, for example, good luck! You'll find a nice picture of the connector and its pins, but you'll have to hunt through a different section to find the drawing that shows where the connector is physically located, and the drawings don't always show a large enough area to clearly show where it is in proximity to other known items (for example, a connector behind the dash - where is it relative to the steering column?). I've occasionally wished I owned electronic versions of the manuals on CD so I could search for information more quickly.
