Default traction control button malfunction? other TC questions

New to a modern Bonny with TC. This symptom may be normal, or not. I've yet to see conditions where TC might help, so I turn the TC button OFF. Next time I start the car it'* ON again. Rinse, wash, repeat. Normal??

Btw, I don't even know how I would tell if TC is mechanically engaged and working...

Also, is there any advantage to running with TC OFF?

The Traction Control is on by default when the car is turned on. It can help being off for a number of things. But first, it is a very valuable asset to have when your driving in the rain or snow. x10 when on the highway at higher speeds, or cornering at lower speeds. Two times you want it off as examples, is when you want to peel the tires LOL. A more practical time for it to be off is when you have to go up an icy or snowy incline at slow speeds and want to be able to spin those tires a little for grip you cant get without. For example my steep driveway where I dont want the engine bogging down becasue of T/C pulling the timing and transfering power back amd forth between the two front drive tires.
