Default driver info center and circuit board problems

whats up fellow bonnie owners i'm new to the site and havent worked every thing out yet, but i need help. My 94 sse is very nice and all original. In the next year I,m going to start trickin it out but i got get some things fixed first. Can anyone help with instrument cluster problems. my diver information screen has gone haywire and the idiot chime under the dash won't cut off. the dealership said the circuit board has to be replaced by ac-delco for about $600.00. I found a auto electronics shop that said they could do it for $400.00 but if I can locate a new circuit board from somewhere cheaper it would be a big help. any suggestions e-mail me at mtracy1@msn.com

Are they saying the whole Instrument Panel Circuit board had gone bad? You should be able to find one at a junk / salvage yard for alot cheaper. Since you have a SSE just be carefull to get a FULL one with the compass and everything and not a SE one. I'm not sure how the Instrument Gauge cluster works, but I would think if the board was shot none of you other gauges, including your speedomete, tach, etc.. would work either. What is it doing anyways?

thanks for the reply chris. the driver info screen seems to be shorting out coming on going off and the digital numbers on the odometer and trip are showing symbols instead of numbers the chime rings constantly all guages work except that one. i was told that all the wiring harnesses tie into the circuit board and while most guages work and one does not they all tie into this one board. junkyards may not be an option as this board is so sensitive and probably wouldnt work because it has been exposed my best bet is aftermarket or someones parts car. do you know of any other web sites for parts and accessories related to bonnies or know of anyone that may be parting out. give a shout. by the way i'm trying to find out what the average age of bonnie owners is as I am 35 and originally bought this car as a work car but fell in love with it so much i went and bought a little used truck and fixed this car up for family use. I didn't have to do much this car was almost mint when I bought it. give a shout! see ya.
