How I spent my weekend
I finally got around to doing some minor maintenance items on my car.
1. Replace spark plugs. The ones that were in there were not bad at all, but since I broke the tip (the little one inside ceramic) on one, I figured it would be best. I used Autolite 605'*. Wasn't really all that difficult to do, took about 45 min to do all 6
2. Flush Coolant: I wasn't sure if I had dex-cool in there or not. Inside the radiator looked ok, no crud on the cap or filler opening like one of the pictures I saw on here, but the recovery tank looked like a**. There was built up stuff all over the inside and beige colored "scales". So I siphoned out as much as I could from the radiator, then used the water hose to flush out the raditor from the filler opening, then from the t-stat side of the upper hose. I then took off one of the heater core hoses and shot water up there, and then into the opening it was connected to. When every thing ran clear, I drilled my new 180* thermostat, put it all back together, siphoned out the left over water from the radiator and filled it up with the green "mix with anything" prestone.
The antifreeze that I removed was a very dark almost reddish orange.
So far, no overheating, the t-stat is opening and no more air coming from the bleeder valve. By the way, I love whoever designed that into the thermostat housing.

Yes, I am satisfied for now. I wasn't sure if it was dex in there or not, and since I bought the car used, better safe than sorry.
I'm really hoping I caught it before it did any damage. I have a little over 40,500 on the odo, so we'll see I guess.
I'm gonna be changing the oil this coming weekend. I'm glad to see that others on here use the super tech synthetic oil from wally world. I still change it between 3k and 4k, I can at least 'think' I'm doing better for my car.
Anyone know where I can drop off old antifreeze?
And sorry for posting in the wrong section.

Guessing you'll probably be alright.
No idea where to get rid of the old anit-freeze. Should be able to find out with a call or two. Don't know anyone who works at a garage? Where are you located, might be able to find somewhere on the net,
As far as postiong in the wrong board, j/k
Even some ot the BC vets still do that from time to time.
