Default Question about Ghetto Gold wheels

I picked up a set of gold web wheels for the winter, as all of us know they are 16". Is my only tire option the 225/60/16 ? They were originally on a SSEi, but I have an SE.

Here is what DTD said for an SE
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...997&vid=004184

Than an SSE/SSEi
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...997&vid=004143

When I pulled them off, one still had a tire on it and the size was 225/60/16. Traction and tread are a plus, but I am not too worried about the speed ratings, as long as its an *, I should be fine.

You can go as wide as 255. SSEi95 did. You just lower your profile to match. But for winter, narrower is better, not wider. 225/60/16 is stock.

You think the 215 is too narrow? It seems like it is :?

215 is probably a great width for winter. Especially in snow and ice.

Wide is awesome in the summer for cornering. The ones I had made my SSEi handel like you can't even image.

Now the down side is that the wider tires turned out to be sleds in the winter. I would turn the whell and I wouldn't nessicarilly turn with the wheels. I learned to drive like thta without too much hassel, but still.

Willwren is right on with the tire suggestions.

Dumb question, but how does it fit? The 215 on a wheel that comes stock with a 225? Wouldnt the wheel be to wide, I know its only 10 milimeters but still. I just dont want to hurt the vehicle, thats all. Is the 215 size also good just for regular city driving? I am going to be moving soon to Pittsburgh, and I want to put these wheels/tires on before I take my trip (KS-PA), which is a good 1000 miles.

It'll work just fine. Going wider or narrower one step is a piece of cake. They'll be great for regular city driving.

Tire was a 225/60 -16 so going to a 215/65 would be your closest match.

Tire Calculator gave me these for switching from a 225/60:

Tire Size.......Speedo reading.......Actual speed

215/65...............60 mph..................60.8 mph
215/60...............60 mph..................58.9 mph

I ordered some 215/65/16 tires yesterday (thanks SHO for the graph), and received a phone call this morning from Tirerack. Dude asked me if I picked the correct tires for a 97' Bonneville. I said of course its fine. Hmm, I hope this size works, does anyone else have this tire size on their Bonne?
