Hey everyone,
Today after I got off work and decided to hit Broadway in Alexandria once just to see if there was anything to see.
Anyhow, I came up to a red light and wasn't paying attention when I heard the guy next to me revving his engine (V. I looked over and there was a sweet looking late 80'* Trans Am GTA (it had a badge on the fender that said "GTA" and had the appropriate body appliques). I was thinking to myself, I know I'm gonna be smeared here as those are supposed to be WS6 350'*, but I'll give it all I got and maybe I'll stay somewhat close.
I shut my stereo system, the ac, and the parking lights off (love seeing people looking at me going by thinking "Did I just see bright green parking lights?!?!?!!") so my volts would go up. Luckily they went right up into the 14v range (a very rare occasion) and my temps were in the 190 range (another rare occasion, but I had had the ac on so the fans were cooling adequetaly).
As soon as the light turned green we took of squealling our tires, although I was trying to just get the most traction without spinning.
It was door to door until about 30 and then I started to pull away (luckily we were just leaving the down-town area and heading into the not so crowded part of town). He definitely was trying because I wasn't losing him =very fast, but I was pulling ahead. By the time I hit about 75 my back bumper was about even with his front bumper.
My turn was coming up so I had to let off, and when he went by he gave my the Pontiac thumbs up and I returned the salute.
I felt bad because it was such a clean car (fresh and shiny black paint with the black 16" lace wheels and tinted windows -rolled down half-way). Anyhow, later when I pulled into a dealer'* lot that we had passed while racing one of the salesman came out and asked me if I had a V8 in my car because he saw me racing the GTA and noticed I was the winner. I laughed and told him that it was the factory non-supercharged 3800 Series I with a couple mods. I was feeling extremely good as that was by far the best my car had ever run.
Now if only I had a G-tech along for that run or even if I could have been at the track for it to have a timeslip to prove it.
This run reminded me alot of my first race which was against a 89 Mustang GT 5.0/5-spd that was fairly heavily modded that I kept up with until about 45-50 and that was before I had done my exhaust, fresh plugs and wires.
Anyhow, just had to let you know. FUN!!!

WOW!!!! NICE KILL!! Those GTA V8 have some power! 235hp and 330lb/ft torque. Damn nice kill!! Sounded like it was a pretty even match, but you showed him that the Trans Ams aren't the only Pontiacs with Balls. There'* a GTA on my street and it has the Gold crosslace wheels. That thing sounds so sweet driving down the street.

WOW!! After seeing those #'* I wonder if he was letting me win or maybe he only had a 305 (5.0L) but had made the car into a GTA clone.
There is no way I could've killed him with those #'*. Don't get me wrong I believe my car is one of the fastest L27'* (at least after today) around that isn't running NO2, but there is no way in hell I could've beat a good running 350 with those #'*. Now if it wasa 350 Silverado with those #'* maybe then I could've beat but not this.

Now I'm really stumped. I'll have to watch around for that guy and ask what happened (how I could beat him) and what engine he has, but I could definitely tell he had a v8.
Anyhow it sure felt great (both beating him and the way my car was running).

Yeah, the GTA'* had 235hp. I know there were two 305'*, at least in '89. One had 170hp at 4000rpm/255 lb/ft torque at 2400rpm. Another was a 5.0 with190hp at 4000rpm (auto) or 225hp at 4400rpms (manual/dual exhaust). Torque for auto. was 295lb/ft @ 2800rpm or 285 @ 3200rpm for manual. Pretty good #*!!! Whatever you beat definitely got owned.

The Trans weights a bit more then the bonne becuase of the frame...and the motor/trans/diff anyways you showed him what real pontiac power was all about and you took him the distance good kill

I just killed my brother again in his F-bird, but it is a wimpy 3.1, not the V8 T/A you killed.
