Ride report.
Just finished another 2700 mile loop. Austin to Ft. Collins to Albuquerque to Austin. Used my "freeway flyer", '95 NA Olds 88. (178k on the clock) Now this car had a very tainted past and some nasty road trip failures (upper intake and fuel pump on one trip in two seperate states.) But thru the help of this forum, I kept plugging at 'er and got everything fixed. Mods to the car are minimal, gutted airbox and a set of 16" wheels off a 03 Concorde LXI sporting 235/60-16'* (minor bending to rear, outside wheel wells to keep em from rubbin), Moog rear Cargo Coils. Average MPG for the whole trip was 21-22 with a high of 31, yes, 31mpg outa full size. Prolonged speeds ranged between 60-85 with a few runs at triple digets I refuse to divulge. Severe head wind from Denver to Raton, NM and a full load of people (4) and a bike hangin off the trunk lid really made it suck some fuel on the trip back. Had to give up on using OD 'cause it kept hunting back and forth while fighting the head winds and the hills/mountains of Colorado. Comfort level on this car during road trips is one of the best, on-tap power for passing is excellent. Used about a 1/2 quart of 10-40 Castrol GTX for the whole trip. Kept a rear good eye on the coolant level!!! Will do the same run in the fall when the daughter goes back to school.

Quite the trip, glad to hear it all worked out. I did some construction work back in the day (OK, I'll date myself, it was in the 70'*) I miss Colorado often, a friend is trying to talk me into showing him the west on our bikes this fall. The spirit is willing, but my old butt doesnt like more than about 150 miles in a day.
