Color choice driving me crazy
 

I presently have a '02 Black SSEI. I have been so perenoid about finger prints, dirt, scratches, swirls, but I think black is the best. Now my nice new Bonnie has been hit by Hail and I am trading it for another 2002. I cannot decide if I should go "back in black" or try the silver. They say the silver stays cleaner, does not show all the things that freak me out, etc. But God I love the black. What do you other Bonnie owner think?

I'd stick with black... especially with the new body style... they look so sexy in black. Silver is les noticable concerning dirt and all, but silver cars are so abundunt, and the new style doesn't really suite silver.. my 2 cents. If you baby your car as much as everyone else ( from the way you sound ).. you'll be washing your car too often that it doesn't really matter.

Thanks for the 2 cents. I do wash the car alot, brushless only or by hand, but I had hoped some Bonnie owners out there would tell me that another color hides scratches better and still looks great like the black. Thanks again for your advice. What color is your Bonnie?

I've had just about any color you could imagine over the years. Black is the best and the worst, but I've found a dark green or dark blue isn't quite as bad. The dark blue in the new body syle is the best looking one I've seen. There's a guy on this forum that has one, and it's quite possibly the best looking bonneville I've ever seen........besides mine, of course!

Mine is white :( .. and everything sticks out from water spots to bug kills.. even road tar grimes. If there's a dark blue / green.. then why not ?? Just silver and white stay away from.. the new style looks like crap with it.

I'm having the same problem. i want to repaint my 88 cuz the clearcoat is almost completly gone. i have come up with 4 color choices i think i could live w

1) all dark red
2) all black
3) top half black bottom half (under plastic thing) and the spoiler white.
4) top dark red with bottom half and spoiler black.

i should have pics soon so u can see it. i would appreciate your opinion

as for you 02 SSEi i would stick with black and maybe some cool detailing. the detailing would dray attention away form any minor imperfections.

Thanks for your thoughts. Take a look at the dark blue mattalic 02 pictured on this site. I am starting to really like it. I dont know if it will hide problems any better than the black but they say the matallic really helps. I really do like my black one but I have driven my family and friends crazy cleaning it, and fretting over the marks made during normal car use. I drive easily in excess of 2200 miles a month.

i got my car up on the net. the first pic is when i first got her, the rest were taken on sept 13th. tell me what u think of her and what possible color options would look best.

btw my headliner is really hurting. its gonna get really cold in the winter...lol

Well, I got a '95 that is black. I also got the hail dents (semi-severe :flames: ), swirls, scratches, etc... It is a pain in the azz to keep clean and with all the imperfections, a little dirt shows alot. On the bright side, I have done the clear corner lense, nose bra, a pair of potiac racing decals, and a few other things to it :uptosomething: and it really draws your attention away from all that stuff. Unless you are up close you really don't notice most of it.

I think black is the color to have. It makes my car look sleeker, faster, and more stylish than most colors I've seen on Bonnevilles (although I'm sure some of you with different colors would disagree lol). If you take good care of your exterior, ultimately it really won't matter to much what color you pick. :wink:

There is an excellent specialty black pain wax. I had a 4X4 that was black that had pinstripes every weekend after 4x4ing but still with the right amount of wax and presto it looked great. I have also found a cheap trick that is not great but it works. I use armor all on a cloth and then wipe it in the key scratches by door handles. It works but you need to buff it in or it will show glossy spots. It works but many people don’t like to do it because it feels like cheating.
