Hey, everyone...I just recently got a couple LED license plate bulbs off of ebay, and, I'm having an issue with this. I installed one of the two, turned on the lights, and, nothing. I was told in the paper that came with the bulbs, that, I may need a load resistor to run between the wires. How would I go about installing this resistor in order for my new bulb to work, and, how much would this item cost?

normally, LEDs need resistors ran in series with them to limit the amount of current they will receive, otherwise they can burn out instantly.

I wish I had a link, but, I don't..... However, I tried the other bulb I got in the package, and, that one works. After looking at the other bulb, I discovered that it was missing one of the 2 wires that come out from the bottom of the bulb, so, hopefully, I'll get a replacement bulb.....we'll see.

Usually they already have resistors to work properly on 12 volts, if you have the same issue with the new bulbs try flipping the LED the other way in the socket since polarity matters but that doesn't really matter if one of the bulbs had a peg missing

Well, I have an update on my LED license plate light issue....the other bulb I received (the one that had both wires) worked when I put it in. I'd contacted the seller after I'd discovered the problem, and, I'm getting a replacement bulb for the defective one. Here'* a pic of the one working bulb, after installation:

If your license plate needs 2 lights, how come the picture shows just the one in the middle? Are they not evenly spaced if you have 2?

I only have the one light....that'* how it was made from the factory. All Cavaliers from '91 & newer only had one license plate light, if I'm not mistaken.

load resistors are to make your bulb monitors happy or make your turn signals work by drawing enough current it thinks the old bulb is still there
