Default engine help

I am posting this here to get the most views/replies.

As some of you may know my 1990 SSE met it'* un-timely death.

edit--->It is a 1990 with the 3.8L LN3 and it is not the 3 but the C.

What year can I look for along with what other vehicles used that same engine. I am trying to find a whole car possibly for cheap and yank the engine from that one to put in mine.

Need help ASAP, We need 2 cars on the road.

Randman1 has the complete engine and trans from his 90 that he swapped the L67 in. Not sure what he wants for it, but I am pretty sure he is looking to get rid of it. Shipping might be an issue though. other than that, I would have to say that most ares 90-91 with the 3.8 should have the same engine as yours.

If you're just doing the engine, your best bet is likely a 1990 LN3 in general I would think, due to potential yearly differences in wiring.

As for transmission... GX3 is your enemy here. Even if you get a donor engine from another H-body, it'll likely not have the GX3 tranny. Do you even have this issue to begin with?

Yes it is the LN3 wich is a C engine, I meant it is not a 3 engine. I was in a hurry to post as I just came home quickly.

Looks like I may start pulling the engine myself tomorrow, and call around for a used engine, would be nice to find a cheap car and pull the complete thing sensors and all, to save me time, from moving sensors and accessories over.

That is why I asked what car/year I can use, like what year Buick, or whatever other vehicle is the same. So I can look for someone dumping that type of vehicle and pull the whole thing one shot.

As for the tranny, right now it seems to be running good, so I will leave it alone, till I have to. So it will only be an engine swap. A friend of mine was telling me that he can buy a brand new rebuilt engine for less that he can buy the parts to build it ( machining included in that statement) what is not included is the labor to build it, so it is cheaper to buy one already done and drop it in, or find a vehicle and pull the whole engine and put it in. A rebuilt one is about 1,500$, at least that is what he thinks it is, but he may be way off on that one.
