headgasket went :(
Well...heres another bonni war story for you...i was at autozone with my girlfriend i was inside she is sittin in my car with it idling, heat on full blast. im sittin at the counter and my phone rings....and i pick it up and hear "The car is starting to stink and i cant breathe it smells like orange stuff we had to put in my car what do i do?!" i was like SHUT OFF THE CAR AND OPEN THE WINDOWS!!!! so anyways i limped it home and saw the oil on the dipstick was spreading and my coolant was low...what a good day. not cold air comin out the exhaust but it wasnt warm, it was also about 15 degrees outside so anything outside was warm..none of the fluids have mixed any to say so there is no oil in the coolant yet so i caught it early. gotta drive it back to my moms house an hour and a half away today so i can
get it in the garage....WISH ME LUCK!!!!

I highly doubt it was a head gasket. I've never seen or heard of a true head gasket failure on a 3800 in all the years I've been following them.
More than likely the LIM gasket failed.

SMELLS
If any gasket or even the rad is leaking, sure, that smell could get into the cabin via the air ducts.. Anything happening under the hood will get sucked up into the heater vents, the intakes are right under the windshield wipers.
A little moisture on the filler cap isn't all that unusual, especially in cold weather. I've seen it on my Taurus, both '93 bonnys, my 95 eighty eight, my 99 eighty eight, and my '04 chrysler minivan.
Make darn sure you can drive it that hour long, a new engine is much more expensive than a tow..

If you have AAA, and you are within range of your tow limit, I'd say use that option. Just to be safe. Aside from that, what does the oil look like? That could determine how bad it is.
