Default Killer weekend !!

A great weekend away to the big city.
450 kms on my car in one weekend is major mileage for me.
It was a full tank.
The first day was a trip down Vancouver Island. Dry and overcast.
We got off the ferry and only had 1 hour to make an 1 1/2 trip in order to make a stage performance for the Grade 6 class. The performances were part of an International festival held once a year with groups from around the world....Africa, South America, Austrailia etc., so no time to go anywhere for lunch so the wife spent time the night before we left Friday morning making the goodies.
We were travelling down with a convoy of 3 vehicles of mostly teachers and 20 other Grade 6ers.
Wouldn't you know it, we forgot the lunches in the fridge :(
So when we got off the ferry we had to stop at McDonald'* and stock up. Fast food...ya right....never when you're in a hurry. The other members of the convoy didn't have to stop so they were getting way ahead.
To make matters worst, my co-pilot wife directed me on a wrong turn and I missed the highway, had to turn around and lost another couple of minutes.
The speed limit is 110 kph and 4 separated lanes the whole way
I wound it up to 145 and set the cruise control so it wouldn't drop below that speed and then spurted around slower traffic hitting speeds of 190 at times.
This bonne rides so smooth it doesn't seam like you're doing 90 mph. It'* so effortless.
Needless to say it didn't take long to catch up and overtake the group.
We ended up getting to the concert exactly on time. Whew.

We stayed at a little strip Motel in a semi quiet parklike setting.
Parked in front of each little cabin beside my car were a Maxima, Convertible Mustang, Riced out Civic, Audi A4, New T-bird, Merc Marauder, Concorde and a duelly pick-up truck.
Went out cruising Saturday night.
Many challenges. Most were close but I didn't lose any.
One event in particular was very sweet.

A Maxima who wasn't expecting my response as he chirped it off the line.

He pulled up to the red light on my left as I was waiting. A second after he stopped, the light changed. I was ready with the traction control turned off, my left foot on the brake and my right applying a little pressure. He chirped. I squealed all the way thru first and put some serious distance in front of him. He caught up at the next light. This time he was ready. I started smoking the tires. OK OK I was showing off.
Then we really went for it. It was neck in neck until the top end of first gear, then when second gear chirped in I put even more distance on him.

I went for walk later that evening just outside the Motel and witnessed many stoplight smoking events.
It was great fun. And it was safe Mr. Federale. Really.
I only saw one police chase...
I was standing at a corner and this riced up Civic came screaming doing a four wheel drift across the intersection, hit the curb, bent his wheel and kept on going...followed a few seconds later by a Cop. It sure was funny watching his Monte Carlo push around the corner. I doubt he ever did catch the Civic....even with the bent rim.

Road trips are awesome...but I have no doubt that the cop caught his prey. I don't care how fast you drive, radio is faster.

You have to know the city of Vancouver. 50% get away.
In a way it is becoming a big problem there.
Not enough patrol cars and too spread out of a city with bottle neck bridges joining one section of town to another. Lots of side streets and alleys to get away.

Over the weekend there were two road rage shootings, and two hit and runs reported and no one was caught.

Last year a riced out Mitsu T-boned a Cop car and killed the policeman driver. They did get caught but got off with a slap on the wrist.
Another street race involved an older woman who was thrown over 300 feet....not much left of her. He got off too !!

.....And they're about to pass a bill that makes it legal to smoke pot in your car and carry up to 15 grams legally. Just a fine of $100.
What is this world coming to....

Hey I hear that everyone in Texas carries a gun.
Now that'* a good way to deter crime.

I'd think twice about pulling out my 9 mm if I knew the other guy might have a 45 mag.
