Help!

My 99 is driving me nuts and irritating me! I'm almost to the point that I avoid driving it simply because of an annoyance...

Static electricity shock. Yes, my 99 (with cloth seats) gives us the meanest shock everytime my wife and I get out of the car. I feel like "Michael Bolton" in Office Space.

Does anyone else have this problem?!?!

What'* the solution to avoid it? I've tried keeping my leg against the rocker panel as I get out of the car (to act as a ground), but I still get it when I make contact with my hand to the door.

Get some kind of generic grounding strap or cable and attach it to any grounded portion of your undercarriage. Make it a foot longer than necessary to reach the ground, and drag it around with you. Works like a charm. Had to do this on my '98 Z71.

And, what causes the static shocks? I'm assuming non-properly grounded, but why does my Bonnie do it when no others do?

i have the same problem with my freinds Buick with the cloth, ever damn time i get out of that car i get shocked. but it never happens in my car with the leather, i cna damn near see the bolt of electricity coming form the door to my hand :?

Haha, this reminds me of a funny story. One day in science class I was moving around in my chair and then I touched one of the screws holding it together and it shocked me hard. Me and a couple of my buddies in the class were joking around and they all said they would give me 50 cents if I shocked my tounge on the chair. There were quite a few of them willing to put in the money, so it was easy change. I moved around in the chair as much as possible for like 5 minutes. We turned off the light and I touched one of the screws with my tounge. You could see the spark from 5 feet away. It hurt like crap, but it was funny.

I have leather seats and it happens to me. Every evening at 6 o'clock when I come home from work. This happens more frequently when you are wearing heavy clothing. Seats aren't the only factor.

Hold your key so you are in solid cotact with the metal. Touch the end to the doorframe before you put your hand on it. That will get rid of the charge without you feeling the shock.

Ha, when I go to the auto show I am a live wire. Every car there zapped me but those chrome door handles on the new Nissans get me darn good. As soon as the humidity goes up outside the static will deminish.

I get shocked almost everytime.

I got shocked again tonight but I think my fingers have become slightly numb to it. I head the shock but barely felt it.

LOL. Ya, doesn't it **** you off! ...little things in life that make you so angry.
