Default Great help, nice cars.

My daughters (22years old) cherry 91 Prism got totalled by a dude running a red light. She got squat from his insurance. So, being the guy I am I tool on down to the local auction and spy a very clean '95 88. Paint excellent, all power options worked, interior very clean. I figured a major tranny issue (I was right) forced it to the charity auction. Car started right up, idled good, reved good and actually moved when put in drive. I get it for $900. I call the eldest child up and tell her what I scored. Now, shes got no clue what a '95 Olds looks like but she tells me she will not drive it, its an old mans car and she won't drive an Oldsmobile. Hanging up, I start a slow boil. I get the car home on a trailer (tranny gave it up 'bout 1/2 mile from auction yard), unload it and give it a good detail job (hey, I know its broke but its gotta look good in the driveway). Cleans up real nice. Fast foward now.. Tranny fixed. I drive it, I punch it a couple of times, I LIKE IT!!! She comes over and sees the car, "wow dad, that really a nice car". Yep, I coldly reply, and being the old man that I am, I'm gonna keep it. Shes still pouting. I found this site and it has been invaluable in getting the bugs worked out of it. A quick search usually gets me an answer, or a starting place to look for a problem. TB and MAS clean smoothed out the idle. A little more reading aborted the install of my usual Bosch Platinum Plugs. UIM is high on the list of fixes though not leaking, yet. Had I not found this site, I may have been able to figure things out, but I would have spent alot more time and money doing it. Thanks guys.

I believe this has happened a couple of times, here. Parent buys car for offspring use...parent does some some fixes and drives car ....offspring still without wheels.

We do pride ourselves on being a different kind of car club. Regardless if you have a Bonneville or another of the 3800 buick-motored behemoths, we try to provide real help and less bashing. We may not have the flashiest, sportiest looking cars (according to conventional, pimple-faced, teen-age wisdom), but for the price, the power and luxury is near unbeatable.

Now that you discovered the 88, then you'll want one of these. Start looking now as its a 2 year wait sometimes to find one.
