SO, I was reading a magazine and it had a good point. As much as we love our cars we need to remember most of our engines are double digit in years or pushing it. Some of us are now putting these engines on some crank. Which brings me to that area.

V style engines, specifically V6'*, have a resonant vibration going through the crank. This is canceled out by the harmonic balancer. This is done by rubber components. Old rubber gets hard and brittle and does not absorb the vibration as effectively. This put'* stress on the other parts causing failure, including a cracked crank.

So something to think about when adding performance parts is to replace the harmonic balancer. Especially if your mods include increasing the RPM shifting points.

Little something to mull over and oh yeah a new one on Rock Auto runs around $75 shipped so not bad of an investment to save the parts that cost 3x'* or more.

Good advice. The HB is there to remove vibration, and vibration is not a engines friend. I just changed my HB on my last build.

Not a bad idea, never really thought of doing that.
