Default Remote for 92 Bonnie SE

Just got this car on 7-1-03.Did not have owners manual but dealer is ordering one.Just curious is a remote keyless entry was offered for the 1992 SE? Noticed that there is an electrical connection that goes to the trunk lock so I am assuming that is for a remote trunk release.
1992 SE
88K miles (Excellent condition)
ABS (don't know)
Pwr windows
Pwr door locks

You might consider the aftermarket option. I had it done on my 89 and it cost me less then $400 installed. Remote start/disable, remote locks and running light flash. This may be more cost effective then having GM do it.

If it turns out that all you're missing is the remotes--find out what part numbers you need, and the FCC ID if possible--I have a couple remotes from my 96 laying around, plus they always have a couple on ebay

Those fobs from GM cost over $50 for your model! You can get an aftermarket system thats more of a security system starting around $100 that has much more for features, and has a long range. I have factory keyless on my 93 SE and it'* the same system as a 92, and the range is better then our 98 yukon.. If you car didn't come with it from the factory, you will need the whole system, maybe check your RPOs to see if it was originally installed?

Also, anyone ever seen the newer VW or audi keys? They have a fob, and the key has a switch and flips out the side kinda like a pocket knife on a spring. The keys also have no teeth on the outside but they are on the inside of the key, i guess this is to prevent wear.. Pretty nifty!

Why do you think I said "old" remote! I now have a remote car starter with a remote programmed to all the old GM stuff plus a whole lot more & at a longer range too!

yeah, but remote start isn't for me, especially after i saw a guys car move when he used it!!!! Holy cow it was the funniest thing i've ever seen a car do, it was a black honda civic with gold edition stuff on it, not riced though. Looked like an older guy, prob 30 or so who drove it, and he was leaving the gym same time as us this one day last year at night, and i noticed he started his car outside the building with his key fob. Then i see him darting towards his car, and the thing is moving without a driver!!! Some safety circuit must have gotten bypassed i guess...
Here is a pic of the civics location, then the first car on the left of it that it ran into was a cirrus or stratus kinda thing from dodge, it hit below the b pillar and scraped the whole car pretty much there to the back, then it went for the jeep accross from it. Once it hit that jeep it was stuck on the jeeps bumper and the wheels were spinning!!!!!!! It was hilarious.... It was a good thing no one was parked infront of him, although the civic did get a little speed. See attatched pic..

That'* the problem when you install an "Automatic" version (which is cheaper) in a "Standard" version vehicle! I've seen it happen myself! & yes, it'* THE Funniest thing I ever saw!
