Car Storage
 

*sigh* Michigan Weather sucks. We have freezing rain today.. and I still have the rear header connected, and the car sitting on jack stands. There is still a little coolant in the car [really just 10% coolant 90% water], and I NEED to get it out. Only problem is, I need to drop the car down [need to get the rear header off first], then I can proceed. But that is never going to happen, because I have difficulty working, when all my tools are soaking wet, and when they are colder than ice.

So, I have two options.. Drop the car, forget about the headers, and wait until Springtime before I can touch them, and get the coolant out ASAP. Or, clean out my garage, so I can park the car in there for the winter. Now, my garage.. is kinda just a 100 year old POS, with a roof of swiss cheese, and the foundation is cracked.. and it's kinda leaning [although it isn't going to fall over.. it's just in really poor shape]. I have a tarp the size of the garage, which I can hang on the rafters, and slant it for water drainage, so I won't have a soaking wet car. BUT, the crap that is all in the garage, must all go into my basement [a mess as it is, and already lacking in the space department].

The other problem is.. I am not sure if the car will even fit. I have 8ft in width, and only 13ft in length with a table and bike in the way. So, I really have 16ft in length. And my car is just over 16 ft in length. It would be a super tight fit, but this thing used to house 40's cars.. [we have pics of one sitting in it], so I am sure she will fit.. just how well?

I need your opinions fast! I have two strong friends who have agreed to help push the car into the garage, and if I need help moving the table or whatever, they will help with that too. All for the cost of a pizza :). It can be done. Just a lot of time/effort will be needed.. and time is of the escense.. aren't we supposed to get 12" this weekend? :shock:

sounds like you better drain the coolant anyway with that garage...

yeah really, only case in which I wouldn't drain that ice-cube-waiting-to-happen is if I had a heated, insulated garage.

I know that. I would drain it no matter.. but I want to know if I should do it.

Straitor: My door opening is 8ft wide.. but the garage itself is 10 ft wide, but there is a ton of shit that makes it only 8 ft usable.

To get the rest of that coolant, you'll need to blow air into the passages i think.

My shed only had enough room to climb out the window after I set the e-brake. You're golden.

Don't put the tarp over it, unless you like beating snow off constantly. It'll weight it down and just fall after a short bit.

Garage is nice, But moving stuff sux. Sounds like it's your only option right now though.
