Default Looking for help on buying. you guys know about bonnevilles

Im looking at a 1992 SSEI, not sure of the milage yet, I have just see a few pics, It has some kinda grey/purple paint, the correct 3 spoke ssei wheels and thats about all i know. The paint is peeling/flaking bad on the plastic on the front bumper and side moldings, and its missing the side molding on the DR door.

The owner says its "very reliable"
Well for $800 bucks, is it worth it? Is it a money pit?

Maybe i will just drive it till it dies.

Opinions? help?

Purple Pearl Metallic.

Let me answer a question with a question.

Did you drive it? We can't tell you much other than go drive it.

Motor mounts every 150k or so. Not expensive. Motor will go 500k if cared for.

Trans is hit or miss after about 125-150k. We've seen them go shorter and longer. That'* where the test drive comes in. Crisp, timely shifts with no lag, and you should see OD lockup at about 48-50mph cruising.

Check the trans fluid for color, level, and smell after you drive it.

Tough, reliable, and forgiving if cared for.

If you want an extensive list of what to look for in a car, look at the techinfo link in the top corner.

Actually heres the link:

im in iowa, I went and looked at the car tonight.
He started out at $1200, then a few weeks later he was down to $800
It want quite what i was hoping for, the interior was junk, Filthy front to back, the drivers seat looked like a dog had chewed on it for a week, there was no floor mats, and the carpet was black (with dirt) The blower motor only worked on 1 speed and it was like 2nd to lowest, Dr side headlight washers were missing and the headlight was torqued away from the side marker, the sunroof worked, but all around it the headliner was leaking and under the sun visors it has bad water stains
The motor ran ok, there was alot of rocker/valve noise and under the car you could hear more of a bearing noise. The tach didnt work, the boost gauge was on -10 vacume most of the time, unless you had it to the wood, then i came up to + 8 or so.
After more inspection of the motor i saw a wire harness about 6 inches away from the Supercharger pully (closer to the wirewall, almost above the rear valve cover) and it had been cut and spliced, and those wire were showing bare copper, and then the other wires that wernt spliced were showing copper about 2 Milimeters away from the harness, so the harness would have to be replace (for me to feel safe about driving it) and i didnt feel like spending all the time and money to get it up to almost par.
Also it seemed to miss at idle but not when driving, and when at idle and turn on the headlights the whole car dropped a couple hundred RPMs and almost dies.

Also it smelled like mold and mildew real bad, he said it was some washer fluid spilled in the trunk, i dont think so, it was from the sunroof leak.

I ended up offering him $500 and he wanted $650, then after talking more, he came down the $600.

I was thinking for $500 no more, i could drive it untill it dies and leave it there in a ditch or something, but I told him i will think about it, and now that ive had a few hours to think about it im gonna say PASS on it.
