towing stuff
this thought came to mind after reading the "sse/ssei taillight delamination" post. when i looked at bill sight i saw that he had a trailer ball on his car. now im my owners manual it says not to tow anything with an SSE.and since the SSEi is pretty much the same car wouldnt that be a bad idea? also why is it that you cant tow stuff with an SSE? i was gonna make an off topic post under that thread but chose not to.

It'* generally not a good idea to tow with a FWD. I belive the reason they specify the SSE or SSEi is because of the stock exhaust setup. It'* very difficult to make a Class I receiver work. Remember that we're unibody, too.
As far as I know, Terminator and I are the only ones set up to tow. He pulls a pair of jetskies on a double trailer, I pull a 5x8 utility trailer I built 3 years ago. If it'* loaded heavy, or a long haul, I don't pull it. LIght local loads work great. In fact, I just beat an Xterra off the line Saturday pulling my trailer.

Ok.....the SE and the SSE have the same power, right? But the SSE weighs a good bit more, which takes away from the margin in GVWR.
The SSEi doesn't have that tradoff, cuz it has more power.

I know it'* not the engine we need to worry about with weight (gas mileage will suck if too heavy), but what kind of strain do you think this puts on the tranny. I've been thinking of getting hitch to pull a small trailer for my garden tractor, landscaping materials, arcade cabinets, and so on.

Only one freaking company in the world will make it for the SSE or SSEi. I'll have to pull my paperwork. And it was a BITCH to install. A royal ablsolute freaking pain in the ***. Be prepared to drop your exhaust. Several times during installation.
I'll get you the info
