Default Brittle plastic around blower and air box

Has anyone replaced the plastic around the air box, blower, firewall area below the maxi-fuse mouting? How many seperate pieces are needed and how much has to come apart to get everthing installed? I changed a blower motor and blower control module today and it went better than I expected. I really thought the entire plastic area would just crumble and fall off the fire wall but I was able to get things screwed together without much damage. It looks like a major job to change the blower box and install new plastic.

The same thing is happening on my wifes Olds. It looks like a one peice plastic firewall. :( that won't be easy to replace.

You're lucky. Mine crumbled to pieces every time I would do a set of sparkplugs. I would barely touch it as well.

How many different model years have bad plastic? Did GM just get bad product in '96 or does it affect other models as well?

Good observation. If we get enough 96'* together maybe we can get a safety recall or something.

I know some 95'* have it..other years have it. I don't recall ever seeing it in a 97+ though. Give search a try... I know you should find some.
