Las Vegas, Nevada… The focus of GM'* presence at SEMA this year shifted from SPO'* tuner-oriented vehicles to Performance Division today. In addition to a range of concept and production vehicles for Cadillac and Chevrolet, Pontiac unveiled a series of GXP concepts covering its entire lineup of cars. Crowning this range of GXP concepts is a new version of the Bonneville G/XP concept introduced at the Chicago Auto Show in February. With positive reactions to that earlier concept, GM officials hinted that a version of the Bonneville with the concepts sleek styling would be released. That promise was more than fulfilled today when Pontiac announced that the Bonneville GXP will go into production late next year.
The Bonneville GXP show car unveiled at SEMA today is basically what consumers will see on the roads in the first quarter of 2004. While the original G/XP concept featured a tuner-inspired exterior and performance enhancements, this new GXP goes several steps further. Externally the styling has been further revised with a new front fascia clearly inspired by the Solstice concept and featuring a deeper, honeycomb mesh grille. In developing the powertrain of the GXP, the engineers at Performance Division have taken advantage of the relationship between the platform of the Bonneville and that of fwd Cadillacs like the Seville. Instead of a "tuner" version of the supercharged 3800 V6 as shown in Chicago, the GXP revealed at SEMA uses a new 285 hp 4.4-liter, 32-valve V-8 engine derived from the Northstar family. As in Northstar-engined Cadillacs, the 4.4l is mated to the Hydra-Matic 4T80-E automatic transmission with a floor-mounted shifter.
A unique GXP grille, front and rear fascia, exhaust tips, new smoked appearance headlights, redesigned taillamps, new rear appliqué, and all-new, repositioned projecter beam fog lamps round out the much improved appearance of this car. While the GXP concepts all feature one "family-specific" Shadow Black tri-coat paint scheme, the color palette of the production model will be increased to ten, including two premium tri-coat colors. A brushed aluminum shifter, lock *****, ignition cylinder and door handles enhance the interior trim. The seats will be leather appointed with suede inserts to provide a rich and secure feeling during handling maneuvers. Features rounding out the Bonneville GXP include a unique instrument panel treatment; interior trim bezels will be made of a carbon fiber-look material. Exterior badging designates the Bonneville as a member of the "GXP Performance Series."
In addition to its 4.4-liter Quad Cam 32-valve V8 engine, the production version gets a boost from performance-tuned suspension components, GXP-specific five-spoke aluminum wheels and P235/50R 18-inch W-rated tires. The Bonneville GXP also has a lowered ride height for a strong wheel-to-body relationship, which results in bold handling characteristics. Like the SEMA version, the front and rear disc brakes in the production car will be oversized in diameter and high-performance in nature, featuring heat-resistant ceramic-coated calipers. The exhaust system is specially tuned to maximize the performance and sound quality of the 4.4L V8 engine.

i want to convince my parents to get one on a 24 hr test drive we live in the country, so i can do some "performance evaluations"

anyone here gonna spend 45k on a bonne though? I'm sorry but i think i'd get a benz or something in that area. ..or to stay pontiac............GTO. There'* alot more bang for your buck with 45k..just my opinion though. All and all...its a kick *** car though.
