89 Bonneville SSE
I was out with my brother over the week and (we both took seperate cars) we were messing around going down a main road leaving town. There is a light with a 2 lane wide stop. I was messing with him trying to get him to race me. So I waited to see how he took off to see if he was racing or not. He lunged so I hit the gas, I spun my tires and took off, I caught him fairly quick and by 55 I did a fly by. --- I talked to him later when we got to our destination and I asked him if he was trying and he said.. I was Matted . Hehe my poor brother in his near mint condition 89 SSE :? . I wish I could get some photos of it so you could see how good condition it is in.

I don't have a K&N...yet, but I did the complete exhuast, my handling is way better now with the upper strut bar, my tires are new, and my timing chain and tensioner and brand spanking new. Its hard for me not to squak out of an intersection...lol
So far maybe 8-10 people...tryin to convince more to come...working on it, keep up to speed in the thread in NE US and CAN

I asked them yesterday actually. The timing chain was not that bad, a bit of slack, only because of age. But I had a newer tensioner on my timing chain so that was helping. It caused a lot of commotion at the dealer. Why does a factory built 1989 3800 engine have a tensioner from 90-91?
The I was told the chain was in decent shape, but it would have been pointless not to change it while they were in there
In your case...if it ain't broke don't fix it

the timing chains on the 92+ Bonnevilles are not a problem I don't think. They only really had a problem with them when the 3800 was first introduced. They got all the bugs worked out by the time the Series I 3800 was introduced.
