1997 40th Anniv Bonneville
Just bought a used 1997 40th Anniversary Bonneville and have tried searching the web for information on what makes the 40th different from any other 1997 Bonneville. But I'm having no luck. Does anyone here know what makes the 1997 40th special?

RPO code Y40 on the RPO label located in the trunk on the spare tire cover.
40th Anniversary floor mats.
C-pillar badges.
Production numbers with Y40 RPO:
SE: 4,935
SSE: 1,521
SSEi: 637

I have a 97 40th. Theres not much difference between the regular Bonnevilles and the 40th. Like willwren said, just different floor mats, c-pillar badges, and thats all. I always thought there should have been more special things done to celebrate the 40th, like special color(*) or different (special) engine, etc. But its a nice car thats rather rare.

I'm not sure I'd classify them as 'rare'. That'* a term often used for one off MODELS, not for badged options.
There were more 40th anniversary badged cars produced than each year'* total SSEi production.
Call it 'uncommon'. And the 40th SSEi is EXTREMELY uncommon. The option adds no value to the car.

thanks for clarifying my verbiage Even still its nice to drive a car thats somewhat "uncommon".
Also i find it quite odd that Pontiac did not release/keep track of production numbers for 99 and after, someone at Pontiac was keeping track, I find it hard to believe that they were just making cars without knowing how many they made. But thats just me........

But unfortunately you're right when I comes to 99.9% of the general population.
