Cradle Break Away
A co-worker has a 95 SSE that he'* had for about 9 years. He lives in the country and never washes it or maintains it - despite my pleading. While driving home after work, he had to drive on the gravel hump to avoid the car he met on the gravel road. While driving on the hump, he hit a large pile which rocked the car pretty well, the steering wheel moved, and car steered hard. It was bad enough he got out and checked everything, but didn't see anything terrible. He limped it 1/2 mile home and got a better look at things. Turns out the 4 bolts that hold the rear of the cradle on had rusted. The washers rusted off and the cradle pull through with the bolts still in. One bolt snapped off. The steering was hard because steering geometry was all out of wack. The ps hoses were keeping the cradle somewhat in line. He put new bolts in it and has been driving it since (about 6 mos). So now you know - You don't have to get rid of your Bonneville just because you drove the wheels off it!
