Default Hood spring??

I noticed that some (such as Will and I) do not have a spring for the hood, and some do. I have difficulties opening my hood. I pull the latch...nothing. Should I have this spring??

Your struts raise the hood. If you pull the release, and it doesn't pop up, try lubricating or adjusting the latch or catch.

Oh, yeah..good call...I tried adjusting the catch, but it got worse, and the cable moves freely...what would happen if I put a spring on there? If I have someone pull up on the hood as I pull the latch, it comes up, but that'* unhandy when I'm by myself... :P

Something is binding, broken, or misadjusted. You made it worse by messing with it. Sounds like it should be easy to fix. Does anything look missing or broken?

Oh, yeah, the hood'* buckled on the driver'* side due to the old lady that owned it before and hit her own car in her own driveway... ...hood'* are expensive though. It may be at it'* current best, given the situation. I was just thinking that if I have something that pushes up for me, it'll open...

Considering the symptom and the damage, I'd say the latch isn't releasing the catch bar correctly. Is it bent? Can you tweak it back? Put some lube on it and see if that helps. Both the catch and the latch.

No, put some good grease in there. Just don't gob it. And oil the spots you can't get the grease into.
