Maybe its because your car weighs more... You do have a few extra pounds in the trunk(subs). Thats why I take that **** out to race to much weight. I wish I could rip off my hitch. I use it alot though. It weighs a couple 100 pounds. Thing is nasty :? .

With 180k miles that could be something. How does she run? Do you tune the engine regularly?

I'll admit, the newer 3100 is a decent engine so don't be supprised if one can keep up with you...still, maybe he had some hidden mods?

Yeah, he could have had some mods. I see newer Monte Carlos with the dual exhaust (1 muffler on each side and 2 tips on each side) stock. Some don't have the dual though.

Do the dual exhaust ones still have the 3100?? I see some on the "Boulevard" here and would like to race them, but I'd like to know what I'm up against first.

(Sweet!! Post # 600 for me. That'* about 400 in 3 weeks! If only I got paid to post)

he has no mods at all. I have no idea when the spark plugs or wires have been changed. The previous owners had it done. Might of been years ago... who knows..

The Monte Carlo Z34s are the one with dual exhaust and they have the 3800 series II.(200hp)
The Monte Carlo LS have the 3100 V-6 @ 170hp
The 96' and below Z34s had a 3400 motor with 215hp(I don't understand that) But to answer the question, no
