Bonne seat width?

Hey guys.. 'newb' here. I live in northern MN.. eastern ND. I don't currently own a Bonneville, but I've always been quite a fan. I'm a member of several Grand Prix clubs and forums. I own two of them right now. I was directed over here for a question I have..

Could any of you guys/gals tell me the width of the '92-'99 front seats? I'm toying with some ideas for one of my GP's.. that info will make or break the project.. so we'll see. Thanks in advance!

Give us a generation and seat style.

87-91
92-99
00+

Buckets? With all the gizmo's? (3 lumbar chambers and love handles, center console adjust or seat switch adjust)?

you really thinking about putting one of these big ass seats in a grand prix? I feel sorry for the ppl in the back of your car if you do put passengers in there. Leg room is kinda limited with the 92-99. small in the 87-91 and well the 00+ is small also

That was funny...heheheh....

So it's limited across the board?

I can measure mine, I guess, if no one comes up with an answer before I do.

I thought we had pretty generous legroom. I don't mind sitting in the back of mine. Don't get the chance much, though. We could do a full measurement for him of the front seat edge to the back as well.

I was under the same impression. In fact my passengers have commented on the good legroom. My wife has the car right now, and won't be able to do a measurement until about 5pm CST. Can you get to it before then?

willwren 06-15-2004 11:04 AM

Not until this evening. 5pm PST. I'm full of meetings today.

Ok. 8)

ssesc93 06-15-2004 11:35 AM

I normally drive with the seat back so I can have some leg room. When I do sit in my back seat, I have to spread my legs wide and that feel uncomfortable. But if a short person drive my car and I am in the back i can have all the legroom in the world. Now not trying to go of topic but in my friends 93 Olds 98, he can havr his seat all the way back and still, ppl in the back can stretch there legs.

I'd like the '92-'99 models.. preferably just the 6-way power. With center console. I don't feel like wiring up the tubing for the 45,000way power seats some of you guys have
But yeah, I'm contemplating putting them into a Prix.. it all depends on how wide they are. I already have a feeling they're too wide, but I want to make sure before I do anything dramatic. If someone goes out to measure, you should measure the track width too! :)

edit - your wink smilie looks like he has some kind of disease. like jaundice or something.

So you want door to door width, not front to back, then? Of each seat? Or including console?

LMAO!!

I have my 99 with me at work right now, but I don't have a tape. I will do it tonight and post tomorrow AM first thing (if someone else hasn't beaten me to it). LOL:

Front to back and side to side. No need to include the console. The MAIN thing is side to side of the individual seat. I have a feeling that the Bonneville seats are just going to be too wide to fit. The plan is to run 2 Bonneville seats in the front with the original GP console. As far as legroom is concerned.. I never ride in the back .. unless I'm drunk. In either case, I could care less how much legroom there is.

At the widest point (the side "huggers") I got 24", opened full. If you adjust the "huggers" in, the widest point then becomes the lower seat at 23 1/2". Front to back measurement was 26". Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks!! I'm on my way out right now to see if that'll work.

Not that anyone cares.. but it'll be a damn close fit. I'd have to get a pair and set in there just to be sure.. its close. Mine now are 2 inches smaller.. there are a few inches to spare by the doors, but its tight against the console, so I'd somehow have to even the two out. I think its gonna come down to the tracks.
Anybody know of a cheap place to pick up a pair of front buckets? I'm not even gonna bother with the yards here.. they bend ya over.. and if you didn't bring lube, look out

Here's what I've got to work with (without fabricating new brackets)
The measurements are center to center.

We got a few people parting cars out here, watch "For Sale or Trade"

willwren 06-17-2004 12:44 AM

Damn, I wished you lived closer to Oregon, but the shipping would kill you. I've got a few here.

Who was that that had a TON of bonnevilles in a local wrecker? 94ssegold? sse4u2me? I forget. Somewhere out in the midwest?

Not that anyone here cares..... I'd personally LOVE to see you pulll this off!

supreme_style21 06-17-2004 12:52 AM

I'd love to see it work as well. IF the tracks are the same/similar, I'll make the 3-4 hour drive to the cheaper yards in this state and pick up a pair. I just don't want to make the round trip to find out they won't work. Then I've got more furniture to put in my garage. I've honestly got 10-15 GP seats out there now.. leather, cloth, any color, you name it, its probably there from all my past (failed) projects. I'm just tired of wasting the cash.
