Does anyone know the legality of painting your taillights in Louisiana? The last time I got an inspection, I had a "hookup" for a huge crack on my windshield, so I was wondering if I can get a legit one with my tails.

Just get you a second set of taillights. Tint the better of the set, and throw the second set in whenever you are going to get inspected. Problem solved!

This. It also works great when a cop pulls you over and issues a "fix it" ticket.

And you gotta think about it this way too, would you want gramma to rear end you because she could barely see your brake lights in the mid afternoon sun?

Well, they've been black since last December, so they're staying. I was just wondering if they would pass inspection.

Depends on the person doing the inspection I'd say.

Same. It would depend on the person, and how dark it is. My tail lights are "smoked" on the Regal. They're darker than factory but they don't look black. I'd say complete black, even if some light does shine, is a very bad idea. That'* a huge lawsuit waiting to happen if you have to brake really hard and someone rear ends you because they claim they didn't see you slowing down.

They're pretty black but I personally think that that output at least close to the same amount of light. You just lose reflectivity, but that'* what the other reflectors are for.
There'* a pretty lax inspection place I'll try, if they turn me down, I'll get a new set.
