Default A Fuel Injector Cleaner That Actually Works!

Theres so many different fuel injector cleaners out there today its not even funny. Everything claims to restore power and mileage and everything else, and honestly I have never used any of them because if you really sit and think about it, its hard to believe that any of that crap can work that well by just mixing it in with your gas. I work at a Ford dealer as the asst. parts department manager, and we sell a product made by 3M that works alot differently, and at the same time, actually works. I believe its called 3M fuel system cleaner, I'll double check on Monday when I go back to work. Basically, its a can of cleaner probably made from the same stuff alot ot other cleaners out there are made of, but instead of dumping it into the tank, you use a hose to connect the can directly to the schrader vallve on your fuel rail. First you get the engine up to operating temp., then you disable the fuel pump and plug your hose into the valve, and run the engine until it uses up all the cleaner and dies. Then you plug the fuel pump back in and away you go! I just recently did this to my 98 SSEi with 75,000 miles, and it was very simple, taking maybe a total of 20 minutes, and you could actually hear the engine start to idle more smoothly about 1/2 way through the can. Once I started driving, I could really tell my throttle response had improved, and after monitoring a tank of gas, I actually picked up some more mileage. So to conclude, I am not a salesman for 3M or anything, I just thought this might be something worth trying if you think your ready for some fuel system maintanence as I was. It worked great for me, so if you do give it a try, let me know how it goes![/b]

Interesting info.

The GM fuel system cleaner is made by Chevron.

Chevron put out the same thing, Chevron Techron. Same forumula as the GM stuff.

I've had luck with it.

Doesn't Seafoam help with the injectors if you put it in through the fuel system?

I think they all work for the most part. I've used STP fuel system cleaner for years and it'* ALWAYS improved my gas mileage significantly, no matter how good it was to begin with.
