Default *.O.B.!!!! I desperately need a part # now -please help.

Went out at 7:30 AM to start my 99 SSEi and the friggen heater fan won't blow. For pete'* sake, it was -21*F!!!
I Shut the climate control off and back on and stil no go. Shut the car of and still no go. I switched modes on the climate control from floor to defrost to bi-level to vent and I can hear it switching positions in the vents, but no fan.
My brother had the same problem in his 1998 GP SE last week and so he ran a direct connection to the fan, so his fan is on high all the time. I don't want to do that, but if it comes down to it I may have to. Sucks -BIG TIME!!!!
I am guessing it is the climate control unit. So does anyone have a digital climate control unit from a 1999 (which years work in 99'*?)? Or can I get a part # to check out over at www.gmpartsdirect.com?

Thanks in advance,
Martin

Wait a minute, first you need to check for 12V+ at the fan motor when on high, to eliminate a bad fan motor.

The head unit does not regulate fan speed, that is done by the programmer in combination with the blower control module.

-21F... ouch... figures something to do with heat would die on a really really cold day...

um, stupid question but did you try adjusting the fan speed manually? On the electronic climate control the car won't turn on the fan until the engine is warmed up to avoid blowing cold air, plus it assists in faster warm-ups..

But I had let it sit and idle for 15 minutes and it still wouldn't speed up. The engine temp was up to 125.

Fuddy, where is the blower control module and would it be the same as on my 1994? If so I'll just swap it out of that and if that'* the problem I'll pick a new one up for the 'i'.

Not sure if it'* the same because the systems are slightly different. It'* located in the center rear of the engine compartment, below the passenger side underhood fuse block.

Well, now it'* working again. I went out before to start it to go bowling with some friends and it started blowing as soon as I started the car. Went out 15 minutes later and it had stopped. Got pissed off and went back in the house to get a flash light. Came back out and opened the drivers door to pull the hood release and as soon as I lifted the outer door handle it started going full blast. Shut the car down and restarted it and the fan stil blew. Adjusted fan speeds and it responded properly. Switched modes (vent, defrost, floor, etc..) and it still worked properly. Came out of the bowling alley and all is still well.
Have to wait until it does it again I guess. That could be a week or two if it only does it when it'* cold out, because for the next two weeks the temps are supposed to be between 15*+ up to 40* F.

Thanks for the info, and if it happens again I will use your info.

Doesn't the blower run on a circuit breaker. I know my rear defrost/door locks/power seats are all on one and have had the breaker die. Then work again. I just went out and changed them.

If not then I would think a loose connection somewhere in the dash.
