Default BANG!!!! went something in the transmission. :~(

Driving out of town, going from the 30 mph zone into the 45 mph zone, casually accelerating, and I let off the gas when I reach 45 mph, only to hear and feel a loud BANG accompanied by a THUD from the engine compartment.
I immediately am checking my rear view mirrors for metal chunks, and fluid on the road as I am coasting. Nothing is showing up on the ground in the form of fluid or parts, so I put it back in gear, thinking the rear trans mount probably just gave out.
Upon putting it in D I give it some gas to accelerate back up to speed. NOTHING. Pull shifter back into 3rd, still NOTHING, back into 2nd -NOTHING. Am down into the 20'* now, so I pull it back into 1st. NOTHING.
Coast around the next corner onto a side street. Pull over, put the car in park, pop the hood, check for broken axles, transmission fluid, etc.... There is nothing but coolant from the leaky LIM gaskets visible.
So I call my brother up and he comes and gives me a tow back to mom and pops yard as I don't have room for a paper weifgt at my place. Get back to my parents place and give a friends shop a call, and get an appointment for tomorrow morning to have the 38k trans from the 2000 GTP installed. Now to find out if it will work with the side cover a sensor from the valve body, and wiring harness from the 99 trans.

All I know is this is NOT what I needed now......

So, you're pretty sure it'* the tranny and not the differential, then?

As was mentioned, yeah, that does suck. Sorry to hear that. :(

Yeah, the input shaft snapped -the trans has been out of the car since around 5PM (less than 4 hrs after it happened -beat that Intense j/k I'm sure they have beat that by 3 hrs at least probably)
The input shaft bearing siezed up and the trans has been emitting a loud whirring sound since I started driving this car in January. When the trans came off the torque convertor practically fell on the floor. Removed the TC and found two inches of the splined section of the input shaft about to fall off the end of the input shaft.
Already found another input shaft (actually the whole trans minus the HD differential) -just have to drive 100 miles round trip and help with a L67 conversion on a 2002 GP GT in April. Travis is gonna like that trans.

Also, the trans from the 00 GTP does NOT have the webbing on the back like the Bonneville trannies, but the shop I have doing the trans swap is fabbing up a bracket for $20 so it will work with the stock Bonneville rear trans mount.
Too bad I didn't have the TransGo shift kit ordered earlier..... the trans fluid will get flushed next weekend again when I put the Transgo shift kit in, if it arrives before then.

It was my experience that if you didn't pull the trans, disassemble every single piece of it, inspect reassemble with all new and beefed up parts then head out on the road for the test drive in 6-8 hours.. .................................... You got your butt kicked by Intense.

<~~~ Hardened input shaft FTW (TY BC)

Trust me Todd, Intense helped me with this swap, even if it wasn't in parts.... Tim gave me some valueable info over on 3800Pro.com that I was very happy to hear.... I didn't know if the wiring harnesses had the same pinouts, whether the cooler lines would connect the same, etc..... Tim came through, and VERY promptly..... THANKS INTENSE!!! Doesn't matter what it is..... you guys are prompt, the customer service is phenominal, and the door always seems to be open when advice/knowledgeable answers are needed.

That'* what I figured.... I knew if this guy could do it in 4 hrs, a shop that deals with no other kind of transmission, probably has a routine down to where they have cut the time in half.
I wish I could justify spending $3G+ on an Intense Trans, but considering I have almost $5G (not including modifications) into the car that is worth $6G in excellent condition, and still needs a **** ton of work, it'* just not the smart thing to do considering I have the 38k GTP trans here and the car is going to be sold in the near future.
