how do i know how much freon i have?
my AC is a little bit lackluster nowadays, and i was thinking about seeing if adding some r134a would help it out al little bit, is there any way to tell if its full? and i know you can buy the refill cans at certain places..so im going to also ask where you refill the system at? and how do you know how much to put in?

You can buy a refill kit at auto parts stores. It includes a pressure gauge that will tell you exactly how much freon you have and when you've added enough. Very easy to use.

AC is really best when serviced by a trained technician. However my friend the mechanic has mentioned more than once that 30 lbs of pressure with the system running is correct. To see this pressure you need the gauges hooked up to the system...
Personally I wouldn't trust a cheapie gauge on a can from the parts store.

thanks backinblack ill pick one of those up here one of these days, and the way i see it, if the cheapie gauge didnt work properly, the makers of the cheapy gauge would have lawsuits out there butts from people with blown AC systems, and therefore they wouldnt still be selling the cheapy gauge...so it must work pretty decently im not trying to be a jerk or anything BillBost, but it costs a lot of extra money to have the car serviced by a trained technician...so id rather just do the simple stuff myself.

What'* a ballpark figure to get my AC recharged if I were to take it in to the shop? I've been looking to get it done for a while, just haven't had enough time or money.
